This is the latest information I got from Anandtech (There graphs are easier to read than OC3D.)

It confirms their early article that the Core 2500K is better value for money than the Core i7 950. Tom's latest review gave the i5 2500K best value OC3D badge and the Gold Badge.

So, by the look of things I made the right choice by waiting.
