I reckon the 3930X is going to hit the sweet spot, at least at first.

Nope, these are still on the 32nm, but have 2011 pins, hence they are on the LGA 2011 socket/X79 chipset.

What you're looking for is the Ivy Bridge, 22nm iteration, which still have 1155pins, and so still work on the LGA 1155 socket/H67/P67/Z68 chipsets

Wow 3.9 on turbo, who knows how far that is going to go. I can only guess that they are more efficient than previous CPUs so this is going to be very interesting. (1st gen SandyBridge was only 95w) 2011 Pins is almost double the pins, what will they all be doing?

I wonder how much these will cost. Intel Hex cores are expensive.

Generally anything with an Extreme tag is going to cost a lot.

Unless Intel are changing that for this new generation.

Hmmm doesn't look like there will be a great bang for buck overclocker in the first batch of Sandy Bridge E.

The unlocked Hex EE's are gonna cost a bomb and the likely to be much cheaper Quad non EE has a locked multi so of no use to overclockers like ourselves.

always wanted a hex core for the x58 platform but they were to expensive, hopefully Intel make em cheaper for x79(i doubt it) but just in case, I'll start saving from now

I wonder what would happen if Ivy Bridge came very close to Sandy Bridge E when its released, its meant to be say 20% faster than the current Sandy Bridge

Ivy bridge ain't to far away Zotac, MSI and Asrock have already released details of their soon to be released PCI-E 3.0 boards.

there maybe 8 cores etc as well this just the first listed cpus... there may also be a locked multiplier 6 core thats affordable... guess will have to wait and see

I doubt we would see any 8-cores at least until mid next year, after all these early models aren't coming particularly soon

There is always a budget unlocked multiplier one, it will again just come a bit later I think

i doubt that... why would they make a new extreme series hexacore weaker then series its replacing?
