I still want the factory made nano crystals with laser reading storage to take off myself they been working on that for some years now, everything takes time but this is progress.
btw the nano crystal laser thing is real not just something i made up, if it ever reaches full production lets just say servers won't be needing these hard drive companys anymore.
If it ever went consumer well your be able to store the entire internet on a single crystal drive.
but there 8tb ssd's would be nice but after having nearly 50TB's of storage atm i'm good for now
Over the past decade I have heard this BS every single year. "New technology allows NAND to be packed in smaller spaces so expect bigger drives for less". And every single year it has been utter BS.
Sizes have barely increased year on year and the prices have remained as high as they possibly can. In fact, two months ago a 1tb SSD (SATA) cost less than it does now.
It's really not giving me any incentive to bother buying drives.
That's cause it's the saving to them not you alien
Prices have come down more just not on the newest in general, as i was buying nvme drives and ssd drives over time last year i saw the prices falling as i was buying the same drives after a short time.
Just anything new na prices are the same your not getting more for less, they are selling less for more it's very obvious.
