Samsung unveils their CH711 Curved 1440p Quantum Dot display

Looking good, however what I'm wondering is will they have Vesa mounts? the CF791 & CFG70 monitors they released didn't Vesa and they have massively bulky and to be honest ugly stands.

I thought vesa mount was a standard thing these days

Just did a little digging and it seems like I was wrong they do have wall mounts with attachable plates, had to check the manual but yes it seems like the CFG70 & CF791 have wall mounts, the CFG70 has it's hidden behind the round plastic at the back, the CF791 has a bracket that attaches to the back of the monitor.

Apologies, hardly any reviews that I've seen talk or show how they wall mount.

Must admit I do love Samsung's Quantum Dot tech. I love my 1440 IPS iiyama, but that colour space does make it one to watch. However, I was reading a piece on how many issues getting things to look right with the large colour space monitors can be.

I can't speak for these monitors, but in the past I'm pretty dang sure Samsung has been terrible with supporting Vesa mounting on Monitors

I have six in total going back to 2007ish - four have VESA mounts and two don't.

Typically the cheaper end displays just have the basic cantilever mount these days but you can get adaptors. I didn't mind as I just had to buy two cheapies for surround. Bloody NVidia and their Sync Polarity requirements!!!

Most of the larger ones now have VESA but they're typically hidden behind a vanity panel. Hmmm three 31" in surround? Yes please. Will need a bigger room though.

Friend of mine got this albeit from korea for £600, Same panel just slightly different housing and stand, Huge upgrade from his 10 year old monitor.

Samsung would have had my money... if only these were 10-bit panels. I'd even take 8+FRC. I'll be waiting for solid announcements at CES. Heard LG has some HDR, high-Hz panels on the way. AOC has some amazing ultra-wides announced as well.

With the ultrawide 1440P panel I'm pretty sure it's 10 bit as a friend of mine got the korean version i.e same panel from Samsung just different housing, and he can enable 10BPC in the Nvidia control panel.

AOC have been using LG panels for the last couple of generations of ultrawides. They're pretty spot on and for the money they're a bargain.

I'm keen for the 34" CF791 - not sure I would risk an ebay model to save a couple of hundred on a Korean clone over the original or a Predator X34 @ $1200 AUD. The Asus Swift 34 is still about $1800 here so that's another story.

It's not a clone, It's using the exact same panel from Samsung.

True - to clarify I'm thinking more along the lines of if things go wrong an ebay buy may be more of a hassle to get sorted than one from a local retailer or Amazon etc.

What i have learn from watching Wendell from Level1Techs is when you buy those monitors from Korea is if anything goes wrong is they will only cover the return shipping price which mean YOU have to pay to get it there.

Which is a big NO from me i rather pay the extra money and buy a brand that i have heard of i don't trust those monitors as far as i can throw them.
