Samsung ships first hybrid hard drive

The Samsung MH80 is the first hybrid hard drive using 128/256MB of NAND flash memory, available in 80/120/160GB.

The NAND memory is used to store/access frequently used files. This translates to ~50% reduction in boot up times and 70-90% less power used (due to less spin ups of the hard drive as instead of the disk being read the files can be kept in NAND)

Currently this drive is only available for notebooks, but if the drive prooves successful then a desktop model should follow.

Sounds nice. A similar idea to Vista's readyboost I guess, but should be quite a bit quicker as it's on-disk.

Sounds nice.. its only to OEM at the moment.

Now if only the SD Card reader could be used with this.
