Sage creates 5TB SSD Controller

A new data storage company, Sage Microelectronics, which focuses on SSDs has announced a new SSD controller that enables SSDs with densities up to 5TB.

That won't be cheap!

But it would be awesome :p

I'd love to think that my next rig can be 100% SSD if the prices become reasonable enough. a 1TB HDD is about 50 quid nowadays so i'm hoping i can get a 1TB SSD for like 80 quid when it comes to it. We shall see!
 
Wow would love this, although I don't think it's going to be affordable for a good few years
 
If it came in and around the 1k mark it would be a definite buy for me.
Its more likely to be about 3-3.5k though :(
 
You are looking at it all wrong. Remember this is a new advancement in SSD technology. Yes if they were using current SSD technology it might be over 3k, but with this new advancement i expect to see 1TB ssd's for around $250 max VERY soon and a 5TB for around $600.
 
For 600 I would buy 2 for my esxi server and one for my work rig and replace my standard drives also.
That would be awesome but I doubt we will see prices like that until late 2015 early 2016.
