Hello.
So I have a 4930k with a sabertooth x79.

When I first got this system, I overclocked it to 4.6. It could do 4.8 but I didn't want it because it was like three times more heat for 200 mhz. It was stable but It was an air heater at that point.

Anyway fast forward like 2-3 years. I actually need the additional power right now. I am running a bunch of programs that relaunch every 3 hours and during the relaunch my computer becomes unusable, so I am trying to increase the max processing power to make the relaunches more smooth. Right now I am trying to overclock the 4930k, and it won't budge. The max I can get it to is 4.255 ghz. This is only by changing the block frequency and cpu strap to 125, with the multiplier being 34.

What I did right now, I changed the cpu multiplier to 43, and block frequency to 100.

As you can see the multiplier is 34. The bios multiplier is set to 43, when I boot, it goes back down to 34. The bios does not change the multiplier, in the bios, the muliplier is staying as 43. However the bios is telling me that the current speed is 3.4 ghz.

What I cannot comprehend, is how the heck does the multiplier not go through.

I will try upgrading the firmware and setting the bios to factory settings, and then see if there is any effect.

on another note, I set my multiplier to 48 at some point, and the computer wouldn't boot. It would just reboot with the screen off for an hour then i used the mem okay button to get into it.

update:

well i updated the bios from 4600 to 4800. didn't effect my situation..
I went ahead and changed the block frequency to 131 and managed to get my 4.6 that way.
