Saber Interactive Drops World War Z's Pricing Thanks to Epic Games' Boosted Revenue S

Well I doubt it'll sell well. People are just so reluctant of change and would rather have a monopoly.
True and I'm talking about myself as well. I want all my games/achievements/savegames/friends in ONE place, no scattered around.

At least in Apex Legends, you can link your Steam Account and the Blizzard-App allows Facebook linking...

To be fair, no games seem to have actually had a negative sales impact as a result of being on the Epic store so far.

"Gaming enthusiasts" who spend their time screaming about petty stuff online love to think they're in the majority or have some influence, but gaming is far too popular nowadays for these small vocal online communities to actually mean anything in the grand scheme of things, at least beyond indie titles and stuff.

It will be interesting to see how thing go for the Epic Games exclusives. TBH I think the Epic Games haters/Steam only PC gamers are a minority.

Most PC gamers I know in real life shop around and get games on the storefront that has the best deals. Many prefer Steam, but most of them are happy to use Uplay, GOG and Origin if they need to. The same will apply to the Epic Games Store, especially if it gets better over time with cloud saves and proper pre-loads.

The sad state of gaming today with so many obsessed with Steam. The steamaholics are really holding back progress :(

Not sure what progress has been made by other services up until today oO

I rarely use Steam's storefront, because you can get pretty much every game for a cheaper price at some reseller.

Now, I am not an Epic Games hater, but I DO hate that I have to install yet another storefront... If the other competitors were as far as Steam is nowadays, things would be fine, but to have to deal with Blizzard's inferior app, Origin and Uplay as well as Steam itself, is a pita already... Origin is the closest to steam, imho and Uplay has some nice additions as well, like the Coins/Points you get for getting achievements that you can actually invest in more content or desktop wallpapers etc.

I don't mind extra launchers/store fronts as long as they're light, I think stuff like Discord already handles many of the social & communication aspects and stuff much better & its cross-platform.

This is true... yet I am one that hates having all scattered around. Having open uplay steam and origin just to see what friends are playing.

Add to that some discord etc.

I preferr to have one program and most friends have steam. Just more easy.

Well this is just totally incorrect. As even stated in the article pre orders alone on Uplay are higher than game one against all PC preorders for game 1, let alone including the Epic store. Epic had nothing to do with it. They used Epic if anything to make people go to Uplay instead and pre order which means they have to share 0 profit. It was a smart business move.

That's pretty irrelevant, if a games sales isn't harmed by being removed from Steam it's not going to be harmed regardless of what platform it moves too really(No ones saying Epic store is boosting sales just not meaningfully impacting/reducing them enough to negate the cut). Metro Exodus also seems to have had no negative impact on sales. If sales were negatively impacted by the Epic store, we wouldn't see developers continue to seek to use it.

It's worth noting Epic storefront is getting Uplay integration though, probably the first of many, though of course it's unlikely Valve would open up similarly.

You just changed your argument so of course it's irrelevant. By going from Epic has had no impact, specifically using one platform as your argument, to saying removed from steam, specifically inlcuding all platforms, of course my post is irrelevant.

Point is there's nothing yet to say sales haven't been impacted. Using Division is a horrible example as already pointed out. You can't claim anything. It's an assumption. You also can't really claim it has hurt sales. We don't know.

Nope they are logically the same argument, people are complaining because it's removed from Steam, not because it's on a certain platform, the complaints are specifically "No steam no buy".
"You also can't really claim it has hurt sales. "
Yep that is my point, until there's something conclusive to suggest any game has had any degree of negative sales impact it's safe to assume status quo, ie removing games from Steam(The obvious implication being it's in turn been introduced to a different platform, in this case Epic), continues to have no meaningful impact on sales as with the years of previous games migrating to other platforms have shown. The burden of proof falls on those claiming reduced sales as that would be the exceptional circumstance in the face of existing evidence & trends.
