That's probably true. But ECC memory runs slower.
Quite funny this has come about, I was thinking that the only thing missing is a server use. Guess that could be solved then

well arnt the server ones going tobe npu aka next processing units which are basically apus on steroids.

Remember that this is "OC support". Technically speaking Intel does not even guarantee that their Kaby lake CPUs can run with memory at over 2400MHz.
These memory support specs are often very little to go on, as things can be improved substantially with updated motherboard BIOS files ETC. You'd be surprised how bad some early motherboards can be at running fast memory until we receive updated BIOS files.
