Running F@H Client @ Work

Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone run the F@H client at work??

I work in a school as an ICT Support Technician, and before I ask my boss if its ok, to run this client on my PC at work, I just want to know if there are any risks (Working in a school, I have to be very careful) If there are risks then obviously I won't be able to do it.....

But if there are no risks and I can prove this to my boss (Is there any info I can give my boss to help his decision?) then maybe I will be able to do it, and maybe get some at the school running also.. (My PC at work isn't highend, but every little helps right)

Thank you in advance

Hay x

Just make sure you get permission before you install any F@H software on a PC you don't own. I have heard a few stories of people getting fired from their jobs for folding at work without permission.

With that said though, F@H poses no security risk that I know of, and lots and lots of people run F@H on their work computers (with permission) without any problems. There have been people who have folded on hundreds of computers at work with no ill effects, aside from increasing network load and possibly electricity costs.

Think of it this way. The results that Stanford receives back from the F@H project are very important, and it is critical for them to ensure that nothing has been tampered with at any point during the folding process. There are checks to insure the integrity of the results.

Thanks Riotcity76 I would never install it without permission......

A lot of people have been touched with cancer at the school recently, including myself, so i'm hoping to encourage F@H

Good luck! When I was in high school I made a presentation and convinced one of my teachers to allow me to install F@H on the classroom's 30 computers for the year. If you make a good enough case I'm sure you'll have a great shot at getting permission. Maybe you could even install it on a bunch of computers there
