Running a Tad Toasty?

Hi

Im kind new to the forums but not to custom pc work, i just have a concern over the temperatures my i7 920 is putting out on a watercooling loop. Currently i have a i7 920 clocked at 3.6Ghz but my concern lies that when i run Prime95 for a period of 30minutes i max out at 75 Degrees. Im not too sure if this is normal as i have seen in several reviews air cooled CPU's clocked at 4Ghz stable with lower temps. Any input would be great.

Could be your RAD isn't thick enough to handle the heat of your GPU and CPU, thicker 360s should be fine.

some cpu's just run hotter than other do. imho it looks ok but it depends on the vcore ur pumping as you didnt state that part kinda hard to say 100% but 75c is decent temp for max runnung prime imho.

Havent actually adjusted the Vcore as much, the only thing i have adjusted is the base clock, thanks to a bit of research found out i could go stable at 3.6Ghz with out having to touch the Vcore. The Rad im using is a EK-CoolStream RAD XT 360 with a spec of 47mm thick. Just wondering how much of a difference thermal paste makes, currently im using the standard thermalpaste that came with the waterblock (koolance brand), would something like Artic MX-3 make a differnce?

Also Just wondering would a push pull configuration on the radiator make a noticeble difference?

Make sure the pump is running at full speed - ie straight from the PSU.

How long has the system been built?

Hi

I have checked the pump and it is directly connected to the PSU via the 12v 4 pin.

The System was flushed and re-built (due to a new CPU waterblock [koolance CPU 360 Rev 2] and a new resovoir). Would the coolant i use make a diffenrence? at this stage im just running some distilled water with Mayhem red Candy Dye for colour.

Thanks all for the support

Hey All

I know the answers arent a one size fits all but i would love maybe a bit of guidance to point me in the right direction maybe a thread link if relative?

Thanks All

David

if you get a chance, post some pics in the rig gallery. might see something of interest. seems a bit warm to me though. even my 920 with an H50 is cooler than that. then again maybe you just have a chip that runs hot.
