Rumour has it that AMD's "Big Navi" GPU isn't a powerful as expected

2080ti at 50% cost?

Never going to happen. They have spent millions on R&D here, they need to claw that back before they push forward with revision 2,3 and 4 etc.

If the leaks are true and it's around 20% faster at most than a 2080 Ti, Which is 2 years old now, Then I am guessing it'll have a price tag of £700-800.

The more Nvidia charge the more AMD can charge.

Cheap high end GPUs are a thing of the past. It's over. Mostly because Nvidia really haven't found another way to make money hand over fist so they are now doing it solely on GPU sales.
They've been making an absolute killing with their data center branch. It already almost tied their gaming revenue.

Considering that it's ment to be 80cu's, which is double what AMD currently offer. If we just doubled the cu's on navi it would beat the 2080ti by about 20%....thats without any arch changes to be taken in or anything, now AMD are pretty handy when coming to silicon architectural changes....would be crazy to think they haven't made improvements to what good was already there with navi. So why are people so quick to throw the next cards into the fire, wait and don't over hype your expectations.....you very well could be presently surprised.

Almost spot on regarding the balance. (not your comment but the actual figures)
Gaming 1.33billion
Data center 1.15billion

In fact their gaming sales fell by 10% while data center revenue jumped 18. Its interesting that they still made 155Million in the automotive industry, and 307million in the professional visualisation areas.

They are certainly doing more than well for themselves. Their pricing markup was R&D recuperation. Unfortunately the muppets like Alien and I, who still dumped a stupid amount of cash on the GPUs instead of standing strong like most of the community, showed Nvidia that they can continue to sell at such markups.

I also don't think they're bringing home as much as people suspect with Turing - the die sizes are absolutely massive in current gen.

It was a sheer fluke dude. Yeah I spent dumb money on mine, but only because that money was a total surprise.

In the years before that I bought a used Titan XP, used Titan XM and so on.

The only new GPUs I had bought in years was a cut price 2070S (£419) and a Asus 2070 Dual (£355).

I will never say never because I never saw myself buying two Titan Black cards new either, and you never quite know what surprises life has in store for you :)

But yeah, I won't be doing that again for the foreseeable :D

I think this is a very good point, just looked at what they were.

TU102 754mm2
TU104 545mm2
TU106 445mm2

no wonder the 2080ti has such a premium, getting decent yields of those must have been hard.

They could be faster and cheaper than the 3xxx cards but I still wouldn't touch one, given the appalling standard of AMD's drivers.

..Potential GPU enthusiast customers may be disappointed with this but for AMD I bet they will be more than happy to have a stack of Navi cards that can match 95% of what Nvidia has to offer.

..I doubt leaving the 5% of people willing to pay the $1000+ for a 'Ti' class GPU to Nvidia, is something AMD will lose sleep over.
ha you got that right there AMD coming with 80 cu clocks prob 2.2 2.5 ghz lol AMD will be looking for £1100.99p for this card
