Rules for memory timings?

I`m being pretty anal here, but when we`re tweaking our memory timings and aiming for new personal/world records etc, should there be "rules" for all the other timings in the A64 tweaker?

Ie... I`m currently trying to hit 300MHz @2.5-4-4-5 with HynixB chips. With my refresh rate (TRef) at 3.9uS, I top out at 295, but if I slacken off to a TRef of 7.8uS, I hit 300 without much bother.

Any opinions here, or are CAS, Trcd, Trp and Tras all that matter?

there are... but i dont know em...

like trcd , tras and trp... one should be the sum of the 2 others... for example ... not sure whats what tho

Tras should be Trp+Trcd+2, but I ignore that. I meant more along the lines of sportsmanship kinda rules :)

3.9us is pretty tight for what you are trying to achieve.

For instance with my bh5 I set mine in BIOS to 3120 (poxy DFI) which is 15.6us, I then tighten up using a64 tweaker as and when I can.

In fact I'll post a screenie here that may help you and others in the same dilemma - these settings seem to work well for most ram - BH5 is will tightetn up the best but as you want high FSB/HTT then I'll post a screenie of what i found to be the best for me @ 315Mhz.

cheers

When it comes to memory timings - there are no rules- the gloves are off and its eveyman for themselves.

No hold barred!!

What you do with ur memory to make ur rig go faster is entirely up to you Kenny mate, imagine if there was a rule that said 'no more than 3.4v for BH5' I'd be shafted.

Remember we are Extreme Prometeia - where the rules just went out the window :D

Thats why it would be so sweet!

Thanks Mav :) I like to be sportsman-like, but if it doesnt matter (timings)... time for me to do the not-often-seen with Hynix B :D
