Anyone had one of these - a Red Screen Of Death in Vista SP1?

I was just in the middle of some Bioshock benching when an RSOD flashed up. Never seen it before so it kinda took me by surprise.

Bit inevitable with windows . At least they changed the colour.

do they still have BSODS? and RSODS are just for a different kind of error?

or have they changed it totally to RSOD? If so somebody should tell mr gates that just because its red it doesnt make it any less of a problem...

If its not a beta copy it's a boot loader error I believe

Never had a RSoD. The only times I've had a BSoD in vista are : 1) I knowingly messed up a driver 2) Bad OC.

Yeah I was reading something similar on Wikipedia. Strange thing is its the RTM version, and a boatloader error seems weird in the middle of playing BIOSHOCK :s

Tell you what, Vista has been having a few spac attacks with me recently. That tweaked nvidia driver (the one of the 280 with cuda for f@H) keeps crashing out and bsoding on crysis... Might have to roll back to an official driver :/ I had a raid error the other day too... Might have to reformat!

Anyway is it all sorted Jim?

Yeah was prolly just having a hissyfit because the 4870 crossfire config was hot enough to burn thru oven gloves

It only happens with boot errors. Completely wrong for that to crop up during Bioshock...

Happened to me, I updated to the 280 drivers to F@H for my GPU and every game crashed so I went back to offical and its all fine.

Thats really weird, because with my GX2 the 280 drivers improved performance in all 3D apps.

So I am well happy!

afaik RSoD's were specific to the release candidates of Vista only and dropped predominantly for Beta 1. As lamboman said it should only happen with boot errors now.
