As the title says i have roughly £1000 to spend can go a little higher or lower

The system is primarily going to be used for lans and moved about a reasonable amount.

I would like to use 2x 120gb SSD in RAID 0 for the operating system/games as any storage space can be with external drives.

What suggestions would you make for other components to get the most bang for my buck.

(I would be willing to consider other case options than shuttles but must be portable)

Thanks

Any idea what motherboard, CPU, Video, etc you want to use?

You want small ITX, Mini ATX , ATX ???

Need a few more details please

MicroATX you should go .

Asus Maximus 4 - Gene Z + 2500k

8 Gigs of Ram

240 Gig ssd

7870 or similar on the green side ( depends on what games you play and @ which resolution )

A TJ08-E or a Fractal Design Arc-Mini ........ I would also recommend Lian Li but very expensive !

You might manage to stay around the 1000 pound mark if you can find some good deals .

I like what Cram has done - I agree with TTL about the SSD's. You will be spending a lot of your budget on SSDs when you need to be spending it on the gpu. You only need to keep the OS and games on the SSD; the smaller it is the better especially with your budget.

Such a shame the prodigy isn't a mATX case :/

For a small build you will be looking for an intel set up.

For the budget and in an mATX case you are looking at a single card solution.

This leaves you money for the case and some extra storage (HDD or SSD) or an aftermarket cooler for overclocking if you want:

Cheers for all the suggestions guys gonna have a look over them all now just got in from work.

My main concern with the SSD's was having enough space for the operating system + any games id want installed but going with a single drive as you say sounds like a decent idea.

Im liking the look of the build you have posted Cram, couple of things I might change.

I don't watch Bluerays on my computer so that can be wiped off.

Is water cooling a good idea on a system that is going to be moved about a fair amount, im not familiar with the bit of kit you linked is it suitable for that ?

I am flexible by a few hundred are there any significant upgrades i could make if i were to spend a little bit more?

Thanks for all your input everyone.

Edit:- forgot to mention that case isn't actually out yet, i was looking to put this together fairly soon, is there a good alternative ?

Case look fine - you have the right mobo size and the case supports ATX psus. But I don't think that case supports watercooling.

As for your selections:

PSU - I'm not familiar with that PSU manufacturer. You can get a 600w PSU for a lot less http://www.aria.co.u...productId=44572

Mobo, cpu and gpu are all good choices.

Ram selection is a little odd - 4x2gb? Not sure why you have chosen that. It is also quad channel which you don't need (not that this is a bad thing). Get something like this: https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Com...annel+Kit+(CML8GX3M2A1600C9)+?productId=45511

SSD - OCZ have got a bit of a bad rep on this forum and elsewhere and are you sure you need 240gb? That's a ton of games. Also the sandforce controller has had it's problems. Best to get something else like a marvell controller (like the crucial ssds which are good value still).

I do not think you would be happy with that case. The quality is on the lower end. If you want something with a handle you would be better off going with an NZXT Vulcan or Silverstone SG04.
