Rogy (Main Rig)

Now that i have pretty much finished building my rig & cant really justify spending much more money on it apart from some mesh lights & new red side panel fan controller... XD here it is By the name of rogy
Started out as a £200 buy on ebay, AMD 8150 missing 2 cpu pins it worked okay but did not recognize dual channel memory.. , 4 GB Geil Memory, 1GB zotac GPU, & 2 250 hdd's raided into raid 0.

Had it a week at most before i overclocked it & it went bye bye!!
so i replaced it with: an AMD 8350 Piledriver & Akasa Venom Voodo Cooler

Just about cleared the side panel!

the upgrade bug had bitten now...

Stayed like that for a few weeks, happy playing the games & then in one hit: Crosshair V Formula z, Corsair 750W Bronze psu, NZXT Switch 810 Gun metal, NZXT Kraken X60, Some Bit Fenix Fans here & there! The case choice was heavily influence by the review that was posted up by this lovely website! love the case so much potential in it!

Now by this time that upgrade bug had really bitten!!! & along came a bargain of ebay another Asus 7950 Direct CU2 V2

For months it stayed like that & i bought hundreds of steam games trying to find a game it would not play XD during november i decided to move towards a new gpu so set about after a psu that could handle it well! and of course some BLING: NZXT HUE RGB lights, i chose the Be Quiet 850w Platinum powersupply!

I came across a gpu on scan gigabye r9 290 with bf4 for £310 & well out came the 2 7950s sold them to fund it

i had 2 140mm fans in the front & 1 blowing up from the bottom + another aiming at the intake the temps ARE CRAZY on this thing 95c all the time, watercooling was the only option that i could see, was looking heavily into that NZXT G10 & using the kraken i had to cool it! but i stummbled on a gem of a deal a week ago on ebay!!!

a well wrapped GEM at that KUDOS to the guy who posted it!!

a complete 360 watercooling setup for £127!!!
i was chuffed to pieces with it sold the case lights & few other peices to fund such an oppotunity, off to scan again im not a fan of scan as they mucked about with my R9 order but they are cheap , if overclockers had it in stock i would have gone to them & asked to price match! they have done for 75% of my build! but a r9 290 refrence block was ordred!!

i waited what felt like an agonising 3days to install all this!! but planned & re-planned the loop to iron out any problems, (paid off)
temps before

now the fun part, i watched your review video again the other night & ran into the part where the fan was almost touching that un-movable plate & well actions speak louder than words 1 solid wack on each rivet ! hey presto!!

notice i the missing front panel that was taken to ram even more air at the jet engine!

test run.. snug fit

a freind of mind did this & i pooped a brick when it made a crack sound never turned round so fast in my life!

left the tissue in after leak testing as i am abit of worrier first full watercooling loop i have ever done!!

and the results are better than any of us expected!!

BOOM!!
Comments welcome!
oh & on the review about being no cables holes at the top being a pain there is a medium opening under the top plastic you can cut into & run cables down behine the rad & out into the sidepanel thru the top rubber gromet :)

Shows what hard work and dedicated eBay stalking can do for you :p. Dude this is a pretty awesome little story you've got. I was also surprised to see that you've kept a pretty much constant red theme since you started the new build!

Makes me wish I had a justifiable reason to get a new GPU so I have a reason to watercool!

Nice development and the end product looks really nice.

What case ist the first one u got from ebay?

I kind of like the look from outside.

Thank you all for the comments :)

officially my favourite picture of its current state

Looks good except you should use angled fittings and such to make the hose look tighter and more clean. You should also really clean those rads.. looks gross with all that dust!

Nonetheless very nice hardware.. Sure beats mine:p

Nice Rig, fellow AMD'er. It's always nice to see an AMD system getting some love for a change. :)

Out of curiosity, do you have any drives issues with the R9 290 like intermittent black screens or DX9 games not launching? I had one myself, but I sold it and switched to a GTX 780 for that very reason.

Looks really nice. I like the transformation from a little messy build to a nice and tidy build. It shows that people should start out with a smaller PC and then upgrade to be a giant beast of a computer.

Cheers for the comments :)

I am an AMD nut love everything about AMD Haha!

I haven't come across a game it has trouble with. the nether uses DX9 & plays like a charm

This was very entertaining to read for sure, great job sir! I love the progression you had in your build and follow your process of the entire upgrade. (Thread would have been better suited in Project Logs IMO but that doesn't diminish the amount of fun I had reading this.) I love the orange tubing you have a very stylish look to it for sure, and that case is beautiful I love the side panel window. Another thing you gotta love a man who uses :amd: ;] The only thing I can say is I think the cabling could be a litter neater, give it a bit more of a tidy look the build looks a bit unruly (Not horrible just not GREAT :p) All in all good job mate, and you did it all for a pretty good price.

That's awesome man, how far it came along from not much to a sweet ass rig!
Cheers mate

Rogys early 6month upgrade,

due me being so angered by the lack of nzxt's customer service im removing anything do with there brand, I will not support or buy from a company that doesn't care about customer support close my ticket without even responding bast...s & I don't have a problem with voicing my opinion publicy, so im literally binning my nzxt switch 810 & going corsair..

here is my new proposed layout with some more additions like Northbridge waterblock & second rad all new fans & a controller, any thoughts on how to get around tight corners ect are greatly welcomed

Sneak peek, very tempted to use rigid acrylic tubing but the fittings are too expensive :(
