I have decided to name my new build the Rog-belly black after-

The red-bellied black snake is a species of elapid snake native to eastern Australia. Though its venom is capable of causing significant morbidity, a bite from it is not generally fatal and is less venomous than other deadly Australian snakes.

this is an X99 build and everything that can be ROG is! and following that everything that can be Corsair is!

Delivery 1 + Recycled parts-

Rampage V
Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x4gb 2666mhz
R9 290x ROG Matrix Platnium
ROG Raidr 240gb PCI-E SSD
Corsair AX860 psu

More parts incoming such as my 5960x, 900D and completely fresh water cooling gear. (new reads, res, pumps etc)

so stay tuned!!!

Ps.

Looking for advice on on rad sizes that'll fit in the 900D along with the Rampange V. Looking for a push pull setup. so please post advice below. any and all comments welcome.

SHISSWEET! thissss will be interesssting

Strongly considering swapping to a 780T instead of the 900D.......

No where local has the 900D instock and i don't wanna pay $50 just to ship the bloody thing....

And i need help thinking of a 3rd color to offset the red and black...... i don't want mine to be another pure red/black build like so many that have come before

Get a 780T in white and go red, black and white

I had the 290X Matrix and it went back to the store the next day, That thing runs HOT, Doesn't overclock well compared to EVERY other 290X out there and for what it is, It's over priced because not even LN2 overclockers could get much out of it compared to cards that are cheaper like the MSI lightning.

You said this when i first got it haha...... I'll put it underwater and see how she runs!

Damn, the 290x Matrix not got the black heatpipe like the 780 Ti version?
Look towards the center just after the gold fingers end..... black heat pipe!!

I want a black case. had a white switch and yea didn't like it. But White fans and cables might be the go.

True and that's kind of disappointing to see considering Asus usually do an awesome job on their cards.

They have no excuse if XFX, a company renown for being crap, managed to make a card that looks great and performs well. Oh it was cheaper then the Asus card as well (as was the basic MSI card). I lost confidence in Asus over the whole thing, especially when it turned out the DCUII cooler was a 780 cooler, including a heatpipe that didn't do much.

True, I honestly don't understand why they just put the 780 Ti cooler on there, It can't of been to save money as the difference would of been tiny in actual physical dimension corrections.

regarding push pull rads. I managed to get 2x EK XTX rads in the lower section both in push pull. A nightmare to fits and route the cables but it worked.

Of course you cant get 2x 360 in there because of the PSU, but a 360 and 240 certainly fits. And the XTX rads aren't exactly thin so I think you will get almost anything in there except the monsta rads.

Of this i was unaware.

Your ROG -might- be different, but the normal DCUII coolers were found out to be the 780's one. It explains why the DCUIIs were crap. A few people get good (still pretty poor) temps with them though so I don't know if there was a revision. Doubt it tbh.

Nope the 290X Matrix Platinum uses the exact same cooler and cooling plate as the 780 Ti version, They didn't even bother to change it hence the horrid temps :(
