Bullshit. This is a part of their double dip strategy. They want people to buy the game twice. Most people prefer physical copies, but if they don't give you a physical copy you won't just wait for one, you'll buy it digitally. Then you'll buy it again to have a disc version once it is available. They do this all the time. It's the main reason why the PC version isn't being released at the same time as the console version. There are lot of PC gamers with consoles who will buy it again for the PC.

Bit difficult to do that: Grand Theft Auto IV came out in 2008. Grand Theft Auto VI however... They don't want you finding out early doors it is A) a bit rubbish; B) Being released unfinished.
