Nah I don't think they can be gamers mate! M$ are just trying to pull out the $$££'s here...and get some excellent support from thwe hardware industry in the process

I almost feel bad for all of the poor little noobs with their new dells anticipating the release of vista just to find out they can't run it, or if they can how gaytastically slow it is. These hardware requirements are downright outrageous, only a handful of us on this forum have a computer gnarly enough to tackle vista (as dumb as that sounds, needing a $3000 machine just so u can run ur OS).
I'm so angry at MS I'm about ready to go 100% nix to get away from all of MS's bs.

my 4000+ SHOULD run it...i hope....another gig of ram aint too hard to procure...and as for the moniter...pfft nah lol...one problem tho my graphics card will be 128mb thanks to the advice of people on this forum
i did have a 256mb FX5500 which could have prolly run it but ah no! oh well...too late now...it seems i wil have to get a 7800GTx afterall!, then with another gig of ram, and a duel core processor after a while if need be i wil be all set!

Vista is in its first round of Beta Testers....it can't be that bad...way back when the 'minimum' system requirement were:
512MB memory or more
A dedicated graphics card with DirectX 9.0 support
A modern, Intel Pentium- or AMD Athlon-based PC.
(which, granted, is a little vague.....)
If 512MB is the minimum, then you know you want 1GB.
And memory is cheap nowadays.....1GB of generic PC3200 is under $100 now. I honestly think the only issue businesses will have is with memory issue... I also don't see businesses (or anyone for that matter) flooding to pickup Vista. XP has been perfectly stable and good to me (when in comparison to Win9x series of O/S...argh....BSOD was an everyday experience).
I'll be anxious to see Vista in action....and again....we're talking a little over a year before it hits retail....hopefully one of us on here will get on the wide Beta test happening later.

I've still got my ties at MS... I got on the beta team for XP and hated it until RC2 once they had nearly everything ironed out.
I don't plan on making the move to Vista... I have a Vista skin pack, which I downloaded for free, that doesn't fuck my resources... I'd rather do that then spend money on a new XP that eats all my resources and has mass driver compatibility issues.
XP works great, no need for Vista (XP in a pretty pink dress).
