Been out of the PC modding scene for a few years now. Would like to build a rig for gaming use mainly. Only want to play FPS games like Doom3 etc and would like some advice on what sort of spec I will need. Unlike before I have to stick to a budget now so I'm not looking to build the fastest rig just something that will run the games at 1028 x 768 on decent settings. Looked at Dell and Alienware and £1300 seems to buy a decent rig but I was looking to spend less then that? Wanted to build it myself from off the shelf components. Looking at spending £500 for the rig and then extra for buying a monitor and OS. I used to run a CRT sony monitor as I never liked the look of TFT. Are they better now?
