i bought 2 anti vandal switches of aquatuning the led illuminated rings are rated for 12v. i know leds require a resistor. i want to run the leds off the power and hdd light headers on the motherboard. if i disassemble the switch to swap out the current smd leds for 3.3v smd leds i will require a different ohm resistor. i cant properly remember how to calculate the resistance required i know that the psu 3.3v output has a max current of 30 amps. I think the formula for calculating R is R=V/I

so if

v = 3.3

i = 30

r = 0.11 ohms

am i right or am i wrong.

also if i am right. do you think that this could work so to recap i want the on/off switch light to work as the power indicator and the reset switch light to work as the hdd activity indicator.

ooh another thing these momentary switches. for power i presume it should be wired for always off so when the button is pressed there is a signal to power the system. and reset switch i presume is an always on setup so when the button is pressed it breaks the circuit then re-engages the circuit. any help with this would also be handy as heck as the switches didnt come with instructions HAHA

cheers dudes and dudettes

mine are phobya. i didnt realise there was a difference and they are 100% 12v rated. if they run with 3.3v off the mobo headers then jobs a goodun if not i guess imma have to get a new soldering iron to replace the one i bought in crapfords i mean halfords that melts the insulation before the solder

Thats very strange then dude, I spose if its a power led it wont matter but I always used to have a second switch as reset with hdd light in it aswell.

Very strange they have gone 12v with them :/

Yea i have a 25mm for power and a 16mm for reset. Strange indeed. Well looks Like when my 2 year old sister lets me go into workk prob after lunch now ill be testing whether it lights or not off 2 aa batteries. If 3v wont do it i doubt an extra .3 will get er flashin and will have to do the mildly modifed route

In work. Got the rechargable batt out of a logitech wireless mouse. Made 'wire' by linking paper clips and hold ing them to the +- terminals with a total of 2.4v flowing

THERE WAS LIGHT

It didnt light a room but there was definately an acceptable amount of light for a person to tell it was working from across a room. Tried dismantling it. Failed. I removed the switch part at the bottom but couldnt figure out how to get to the innards of the light section. I think it might actually be made of magic
