Replacing Noctua NF-P12 fan

Just ordered myself one of these HSF's and id like to change the fan as the one supplied is.. well .... UGLY!

I bought a 120 x 120 x 25 sharkoon 2000 rpm fan to hopefully replace the ugly brown noctua one.

So 3 questions:

1) Has anyone replaced this fan before?

2) Would there be much difference in cooling potential by replacing the fan?

3) What about the CPU fan header? I belive the sharkoon comes with a normal 4 pin molex, so would I need to buy an adapter to plug it into the mobo?

Thanx :)

1) Nope

2) The NF-P12 is a very good fan from a low-noise/increased static pressure point of view. I haven't had much to do with the Sharkoon fans (can't comment on their cooling performance) but the Noctua would certainly be quieter due to its lower rotational speed, and probably better cooling-wise.

3) Yeah you should be able to get a 3-pin to 4-pin molex connector easy enough

ok cool and btw i dont care about noise, i would rather have a loud fan than a quiet one actually :p

The noctua fan is better than sharkoon 1000s in both noise (in terms of pitch) and static pressure. Not sure on the differences between them and the 2ks

Im intruigued as to why you have bought a noctua heatsink if you are not concerned with noise? You couldve just got a standard heatsink and strapped a cheapy high CFM fan to it, saving youself a considerable lump of cash.
