Yeah, Mods can do pretty much everything apart from change the way the site works/looks.

And if the time is right, and we are on the hunt for new mods, we are most likely to consider the people with the highest reputation

well that is quite unaccurate because of the new members who have low reps and you could just ask the members to do a poll who is th favorite and you have the final decision

that wouldnt make any sense because then it would be more like voting for the person with the best name

its better when the mods decide who should be the next one, because they have to work together and take care of the site, and since the mods have been here the longest, they know who to pick because theyve had experience
