Rep System - please read.

Hey guys as youll know we have been having some issues with the rep system lately. In looking into it we realised that its something every forum has, its just another feature. To the extent that alot of you dont really use or acknowledge it.

So after some thought we are putting consideration into removing the rep system as it is now and building our own custom version that will be similar but more rewarding.

Where the rep bar is now you will have 'badges' that will be highlighted with achievements for forum/community work like:

Folding

Benching

FS&W Authorisation

and then there will be a similar rep system to what you guys know already but the 'badges' can only be given by a mod or admin.

There will be a thread for badge nominations so you can nomiate mebers for there helpfulness ect so we can have a situation highlighted.

But the main thing is that after a set amount of badges earned, say 10 or 25 what ever the member will recieve a prize. Its all still a very raw idea so dont ask what, but this will ensure that the members that really do help get thanks for it from OC3D.

Cool beans!

that will mean a lot more to me than little green bars :D

so we gonna stuff like "Community helper" for writing a guide, "Folder *grade*" grade being replaced with F up to A* for varying levels of folding activity - not necessarily amount of points but commiting to it. Perhaps a comedian badge for a good joke and stuff like that

We can adopt all those ideas yes matey. The main thing will be a admin/mod based award that adds up to a price, those awards dont really need a name but you get the idea.

There will be specific named awards also, kinda give you all a reason to get envoled and have an easy way for others to see it. Bit like military stripes.

It wont make anyone a higher member, just more commited and community focused member ;)

Send your blank signed cheques to .....:p

On a more serious note, this is an idea to reward active, committed and helpful members of OC3D. Your time, effort and input does not go unnoticed and this is a way of us saying thanks. :worship:

We appreciate the unpaid assistance you give to other forum members without which we would not be the great community we are today.

*sniff* ill stop there I'm filling up!

:oc3d:

This seems like a cool idea. Like how it's sounding already! :)

And even though we're not paid to give our information/help/etc to others it's still a good feeling to see the person you helped happy about their build! :D

The current rep system: the green indicator with large gaps till the next sqaure, no numbers and used little.

In a nutshell, you hit the add to reputation button if there's a post with something useful to you in it. :)

But I reckon 20% of active members only use it :(

New idea sounds awesome Tom, looking forward to see it in action ;)
