So my listing ends on ebay today and the thought just occured to me, its been under a pelt, there is grease on the bottom of the cpu, NOT the IHS.

Is it safe to use arctic thermal tim remover on the bottom of the cpu?

Using a cotton bud?

Thanks people.

Urm, there's a kind of solvent that does it properly and safely. I'll take a peak at exactly what now...

I used some Akasa cleaner that's a bit liek the AC stuff to clean my chip. It worked fine on the CPU, but the motherboard was a disaster - the stuff never dries!

I had my Striker board in the airing cupboard for about 2 months because it had Akasa cleaner in the socket area...still didn't dry after that time :s
