Registry Hunting

I have been using a free File and MP3 Tag Renamer to deal with some annoying files that come my way.

Alas the free trial has ended.

I foolishly thought that a simple uninstall / reinstall would do the trick. Not so !

I have hunted the registry for any entries it made.

Anyone got a good way to hunt the registry and delete anything it put in ?

You know the answer to this one... ;)

TBH if they know what they are doing they would have hidden the "has this been installed before" key somewhere right in the depths of the registry under a spurious name.

Best bet is to dig deep into your pockets :P

I had a suspicion that i would get a reply like this :-)

Yes i could buy it but i'd rather not !

If you were interested in removing all traces of the application including hidden registry entries then there are tools on the net which will record and list any changes made to the registry.

Just run that while installing the application and it will show you everything it puts in the registry. Then you can go and delete it all for a clean, fresh registry :)

Personally if you using some thing weather it be a OS or a Game or what ever then you should pay for it. This goes for ever thing in life. Yes we all like "Free" but all so a little respect goes along way toward developers of this sort of stuff.

With out our contributions to such software then why should they dev it more and make it better.

Do you think this site is free to run ... or do you think some one some ware down the line is paying for its up keep ....

if you don't like it, then don't pay for it and don't use it. if you like it then do the right thing.

If you uninstall the program and run a registry cleaner or something like CCleaner it should pick it up as a redundant entry no longer linked to anything.

Surely the app isnt expensive though?
