Recommended Running temps

Afternoon all,

Just a little question if I may;

I've never seen any recommended running temps for the Mach II GT's, as a rule for 24/7 use I try to run at -2C Core temperature or there abouts. Logically I assume that running at sub-zero at all times makes for less chance of condensation. When running like this I never see Evap temps warmer than -55c at full load after extended use and -66c is normal for my unloaded temps. Thus far I've not had any issues at all and wonder if this tally's with your results?

The other question I have is this, for the occasional 'short' benching session how far can I push the temps for both core and evap? The reason I ask is because I have seen that some people with Phase change sometimes let their chips reach as high as 12c approximately and that seems a bit dodgy to me... what is your take on this?

Cheers,

Jaffa mate,

I too have seen people run under load at +13 degrees (dazboots with duallie) but I dont like to see my CPU go any higher than -2 under load (for benching) and I am not really happy at that. Thats my FX55 temps at 272*13 when I bench.

24/7 I like BIOS temps on my DFI to tell me it's idling at -16 degrees Celsius (speedfan tells me its -22 in windows) that with FX55 set at 250*13 or 270*12.

The dual core is different, I think I hit the CPU ceiling on my unit, as I can run max overclock 261*12 24/7 and temps are same as that of the fx55 at 'normal'overclock - could be the FX needs to go topless to go faster and probably would too as it is a week 13 unit.

You can use the mach at stock CPU speeds 24/7, but is probs happier with 250FSB being used on max multiplier just to give it 'some' work to do.

Hope this helps

Cheers for the reply Mav,

Seems we're trying to keep to the same temps which is very re-assuring. :cool:

I can see what you mean about running a naked core, it's a tempting idea. I de-lidded my bad clocking FX55 Clawhammer and in the process lost a pin which was very luckily a duplicate pin, but it still didn't do much if anything for it's oc. I think balls of steel as well as a steady hand are needed to de-lid a chip that already oc's well like yours.

Anyhow, I still wanna hear what everybodys take on this is, so do let me know what your opinions are please.

See warlord shigs if you wanna go topless - he does a stirling job at a reasonable price.

Be Mindful that San Diego cores have been known to be fragile - do so at your own risk and with your eyes wide open.

My fx57 runs at -25 idle in the bios I think that may be accurate ish as I am running a chilly1 headed unit I am not sure what my core hits fully loaded I know smart gardian alway read 235 or so so I know I am running sub zero
