recommendations on a new keyboard

Hi. I am soon to purchase a new keyboard, and was looking for some recommendations for what other people on here use. I will mostly use it for python programming, and a bit of gaming, but typing is the main focus.

Reuirements:

Low profile keys: I prefer low profile keys to full size chunky keys

Backlit: I work at night a lot, so it needs to have backlighting (preferably blue or white)

Simple: I want a keyboard WITHOUT ridiculous amounts of gaming keys and other silly things. I'm running ubuntu, so will most likely run into driver problems with more non-standard designs, but you can still suggest them, I'll just look them up after.

Not Rubberized: I've used the rubberized razer lycosa, and hate it

Preferably not mirror finish: It'll get very dirty were I'll be using it

I was looking at the razer lycosa mirror, but after reading a few customer reviews of it, it seems like its a pretty dodgy keyboard. So what do other OC3D members use?

Corsair Vengeance K90 for sure. Only problem is you don't want lots of Macros... So you could try the Roccat Isku. Steelseries 6Gv2 is great but has no backlighting.

Oh, and avoid Razer stuff. I know i say this all the time in these peripheral related threads but i find their stuff badly built and overpriced

I would also recommend the K90 however doesn't meet your requirments.

I cannot comment on the keyboard myself but the Tt eSPORTS Challenger pro/ultimate, seems like it meets your requirments?

I'm quite tempted with the Ozone Strike Mechanical Keyboard over any of the Corsair keyboards.

Looks great and around £70 and no macro keys. My only gripe is the keys are not backlit.

Thanks for all the info. I'm liking the look of the ducky shines. They are quite nice looking keyboards.

I was at first going to get the k90. But unfortunately, corsair's support for linux with their peripherals is a bit rubbish at the moment. Which is a shame, because I do love their stuff. My desktop is built in a 500r, and has a corsair PSU, memory, and SSD as well. And I'm also hoping to eventually get some SP2500s eventually. An that's without actually having any sort of brand alligence before hand, they just happened to be exactly what I wanted. But yeah their driver support is rubbish in linux.

I'm looking at the roccat isku as I write this; it actually looks awesome. They actually look like they have official linux support. If that's the case, I'm definitely going to look closer into it. Is that the one that got the OC3D best keyboard of 2011 award? I think it was from memory. I'll have a look at the review :-)

It is not mechanical though...

EDIT: Mechanical is not in the criteria

Logitech G110 it is fairly priced non mechanical backlit with color changing features and it does have the gaming macro's but software isn't required to use the keyboard and only optimizes the color changing of the backlight plus it has some pretty nice features like a scrolling volume wheel

I would check out alot of Logitech keyboards aswell they don't make any mechanical and most of them have backlighting in white
