Hey all. Building my brother a computer due to the recent loss of our house due to fire. I'm not quite up to date with everything, my last mobo was a 680i chipset. So I'm not sure which chipset I want.

So I am after a board around £80 that is maybe a reasonable overclocker because he wants to try it out. So what would you recommend?

good price and a v good mobo... dont worry bout the 4 star review though, it is def a solid board.

He will be using a single GTX 275. I thought the xxxi series of chipsets were older? The place we buy our stuff from lists p45, p43, p35 and nforce chipsets.

Old yes, but the latest nforce chipsets are the 750i, 780i and 790i..... 790i takes ddr3 and will be out of your budget, and i think 780i will be as well ( although a quick look around for clearance boards might help )

the EVGA board is the best bet from the nforce side imo....

It does look good, just that I'm going out to buy this stuff tommorow, and they don't do this chipset ><

If ur looking for something bargain wize, I'd definitely check out Aria's bargain-basement. 30 day warranty ofc, u can check the mobo out very well within 30 days, but there are a few classic mobos in there. And ofc a world of experience on OC3D on getting the best out of them.

Novatech I checked out the ever diminishing list of 35/45 chipsets. Tbh for =<£80 they do have some mobos, but not ones I'd recommend for oc'ing. £92 or so and the world opens up a bit more.

Scan have a few P5Q variants for =<£80, again with them, the ones I'd prefer start a little higher than that. Saying that they have a Today only with 775 boards, in particular an EP45-DS3 which looks interesting, but the ASUS ones are a little cheaper there too.

Still shocks me how expensive these mobos are as they push closer and closer to eol status.

Be a bargain purchase or a Today offer for me.
