Recommend me a HOTAS please )

@Sub these apparently work with ED for just over £55 i'm prepared to take a punt and it's open source software https://www.trackhat.org/product-pa...VsP2npwGnOVRfzrSWEAqWVhO_UZP5pahoC8HIQAvD_BwE

That's similar to the EDTracker.

I bought an EDTracker and couldn't use it, it just didn't seem smooth enough and to jittery so never bothered with head tracking in Elite.

Then I got the Rift and wow! When I am not using my Rift I miss the head tracking so much.

If you can get it set up right and working smoothly then you will enjoy it, especially in combat it's brings so much to the table.

The ed track uses gyroscopes this is more like TrackIR :)

I just ordered the X52 and bought voice attack from steam. Now to decide which voice pack I want. Holly from Red Dwarf will be fun but i'll look at the options :)

Definitely give that thing above a go, it looks to be basically copying what TrackIR does, so makes sense. It's 100% worth a try, EDTracker has had a few revisions, I think their latest one is much better, it's fairly DIY though if I recall.

Grats on the X52. Holly is a novelty but you will get bored. You can combine packs for incredible humor though.

e.g. One AI gets shut out and complains to you because Holly is busy drooling over a poster of David Hastelhoff and refuses to allow the other AI in, out of jealousy... or something like that.

I highly recommend Verity though. Reworked and expanded. Seline is also quite hot ;)

Nice female AI with a soft French accent. Reminds me of home haha.

If you want an example of the Voice Packs, have a look at FireyToad on Twitch, he is mainly an explorer but uses alot of the voice packs from HCS.

I have Voice Attack and Orion but I don't use it, I have everything that I need bound to buttons on my X56 and I know where the buttons are so, when I use my Rift I still know exactly where the buttons are.

If your limited on buttons though, the voice commands do help especially in combat for shield cell's, chaff and power management.

I like the idea of using the ships AI it's makes the game more immersive imo I am not interested in VR. I will be setting it up properly today when my X52 arrives

Tolemac: since you mentioned shoulder issues, I *highly* recommend a docking computer when you start playing. Learn to land properly first, as people said, but buy a docking computer for your ship after that. Most ED players won't use them, but if you have shoulder issues, it's nice to be able to take your hands off the controls and let the ship dock itself. It's also a great time to refresh your snack / drink / etc. :)

Yeah dont get too attached to it though. Eventually you will want to use the optional slot for something more useful, but will feel the need to keep your computer.

The classical music that plays while you dock is nice though. :)

It also great when you approach a space station from the wrong side, or when you have no idea where the landing pad is. :) Let the computer take care of it, while you refill your wine / beer / snacks!

Looks great. How are you getting on with them?

I really like that design. Makes my old Thrustmaster Cougar set look plain and dull.

I really need to try voice attack, however the game doesn't play nice with my bluetooth headset. I have to disable the mic to get stereo audio. :(

For £115 i'm impressed tbh but it does need "fine tuning" as does voice attack with the HCS packs :)

Just trying it out gotta set up the voice pack next :)

Nice work. I have the left forefinger four way hat switch set up for vertical/horizontal thrusters, comes in really handy.

Docking computers are great on larger ships but don't 100% rely on them keeping you safe . Sometimes you hit the deck pretty hard. Shame you can't map the computer to a switch or button. You have to manually disable it in the flight control panel if you don't want it to auto-activate. If you're hands on then you hit zero throttle at all as you're just about to touch down the computer can send you back into the landing pattern which is frustrating as you usually hit the lights or tower near the landing pad.

Don't forget that while there's nothing stopping you entering the station upside down or back the font, if you enter the with the Green light on the Right of your ship - Red is left (Port), Right is Green (Starboard) - then the Landing pads are always numbered the same. This helps you locate Docking bay 22 for example as it's always in the same direction. Saves you running out of time looking for your landing pad.

I have voice attack but rarely use it -mainly because the mic is on my headset and I use speakers most of the time.

It would be nice to get one with attitude.
Like when you fall out of supercruise for being too close to the star it gives you some Rogue One K-2SO - "That was bad. That was really bad."

As I mentioned. Voice attack gets better every time your run the microsoft speech recognition tool.

It uses that tool to adapt to your view. After 5 run throughs, VA recognises all my words even if I mumble them now.

Nice, protip, find a way to lower the throttle and stick from an arms raised position, to an arms by your side or on your lap position (or lower ideally) and it'l help with your shoulders/arms/wrists a LOT in the long term.
There's a reason our ingame cmdr's have them where they are ;)
Lollipops revenge is a good name for a ship ;), time to earn some credits now eh, 1000 won't last long ;)

Thanks for the tip Sub i'm sure my woodworking skills will come in handy there :)

Lucky man, with those skills! I ended up shelling out serious $$$ for MonsterTech HOTAS mounts. $420CDN later, for a sub-$200 HOTAS, just because of lack of skills! But I must say it makes sooooo much difference, and it WILL save your shoulders.

Be sure to make a DIY thread on those when you get at it, that would be awesome to see!
