There`s no doubt a difference, just seems a bit of an unfair comparison that the dx9 version is supposedly crippled and the dx10 isn`t.

They are talking poo, why would Crytek "disable" some of DX9c features? Come on.. that doesn't sound right.
I do not know for sure.. but I don't yet think there is a pure DX10 game.. Crysis certainly isn't it.

The crippled is on the DX10 version. Thats what they are saying. You have to realize that its not going to be "full" DX10 cause its one of the first true DX10 games. AND the DX9 "edit" "hacK" whatever you want to call it is still DX9. The other screenies are DX10. Im pretty sure 3dmark Vantage is going to show you true DX10 and then youll find out why they crippled it. Cause it will todays cards hxc.

I`m not fully understanding how limiting some of the effects to just dx10 is limiting dx10.

Unfortunately I`d give XP this next year b4 they make stuff unusable on it. Atleast to the extent where u`ll need to patch and wiggle things to get stuff working.
IF XP is still gamingly viable by the end of 2008, I don`t know what`ll happen Vista-wize. We`re meant to be having it in work 2009, which seems crazy as u know there`ll be a 2010 windows variant.

It`ll still be around m8, but it`ll be increasingly difficult to get games working on it.
Most of the tech-wize peoples appreciate that we`ll end up working with it sooner or later, nothing u can do about it really. We`re 99.99% 2000 free atm at work, but there are a few things that require 2000. Same deal will be with XP I`m sure. Only our biggest task is going to be the replacement of a high % of pcs cos Vista just won`t install on them. I blanked a pc that had win98 on it just b4 christmas.

Actually.. almost anyone I speak to thinks Vista is a crude attempt at a new OS.
But hey, there are some rumours about Microsoft realizing this and extending support for XP rather than Vista.

the big difference between 05 and 06 was the 'standard' resolution was changed from 1024x768 to 1280x1024... thats quite a large difference in real terms tbh.
i hope they keep it at 1280x1024 in 08 and bring in some very intensive tests for physics too. i'd like that ageia badge to be worth something that they stick on the program...

Well I used to get all sorts of issues with XP and every say 6 - 10 months it would end up horrible and require a fresh install..
Vista runs smooth as for me and requires no attention to keep it that way.. Obviously people require different things from their operating systems but for me it seems some people are just picking favs without having anything to go on apart from what they hear.

i think that made alot of the scores go lower than one would expect, since almost all the tests were just revamped ones from 05 tbh
if you ran 06 at 1024x768 THEN compared your score to one you got with 05 i believe it'd be alot closer tbh ?
