My alarm didn't wake me up this morning early enough! So I didn't manage to get one.

Anyone manage to get one?

I think they are a genius little machine!

Nope. From what I read they went UK only? For the price though I will definitely be picking one up in the future. Sounds too like they have now secured a better source to build these things. They won't be limited to batches of 10,000 anymore.

It's a shame it doesn't fit in an altoids tin.

I tried but one site was DDOSed, the other was only taking "expressions of interest" so it remains to be seen.

Yeah, I signed up to both so we will have to see! Yeah you could order them abroad, but people had varying degrees of success. It was the distributors that buggered things up! But yeah, should be awesome.

Not sure whether it's to get people coding or to get people to understand computers a little more. Regardless it is still a fantastic idea for the education sector anywho, cheap capable computers!

So in short, is this pretty much a computer / web browser that hooks up to your TV? Sorry if I come across naive, I did skim read the FAQ's where they link "What is Raspberry PI"

Its a small computer designed to get kids into coding, namely using a Linux distro. Its an awesome little device begging to be given a custom case and used as a little media machine for music and video playback, coding and learning to use GNU on. I'm after one myself. We've got an RS account and fingers crossed can get one off my dad for free, the perks of being in a family business lol. Fingers crossed I'm going to get one and make a case for it and include a USB hard drive, USB breakout box etc, they are begging to be modded.
