Raptor X

Are they any good?

Can get em for £150 from a UK etailer. Also, I'd like to transfer the data off my current HDD to the raptor...how can I do this wihout having to reinstall windows?

Raptor X is a great modders drive if you have somewhere to mount it where u can see the internals of the drive moving, that's for sure. Performance is top notch and game load speeds are dominated by Raptors.

Only prob with the Raptor X is that the MTBF is something like half the standard Raptor 150. I think this is due to the crap thermal conductivity of the see through plastic side, the drive tends to be a scorcher anyhow and with the plastic just makes it that much worse. I'd stick with the regular 150 unless u have a way to show off the X.

The drive would be visible

Would mount a DDC ultra upside down in drive bay above with an led shining down onto the clear window of the raptor...

what dya think??

Would definately be cool, what case? Most cases don't give you a good view of the top/bottom of ur HD's from the outside w/ the side panel on.

Akasa Eclipse 62...

S/pose it would be obscured so perhaps I would be better off with the non-windowed version?

Yeah quite a bit less expensive IIRC. Same performance and much higher MTBF.

what would be best way of transferring data from existing drive to the raptor?

Hooking both of them up to ur comp and then simply transfering all of the files to the new drive.

Can I then remove the 'old' drive and set the raptor as the 'master'...? Should the system boot ok from the raptor?

Then add my old drive and reformat it?

Must point out my current drive is a 300gb one...raptor is 150gb (only used 140gb of my current HDD tho)..

U Sure the transfer will be OK?

So u will be transfering Windows and all to the new drive? Use the Windows backup utility, and back up every single thing to ur 150gb drive, then format the 300gb drive, install windows to the raptor, once in windows transfer the backup file to the 300gb drive and restore all the files to the Raptor.

It's not really guide worthy mate, just follow the instructions I gave u in the post above. It'll work perfectly.

dont mount the DDC upside down it messes with the pump mechanism
