Evening gentlemen, the R4E I have is on the earliest bios version, and I needed to upgrade it so it would accept the 3820 i've just bought. To do this however, I needed to use a ROM to CAP converter, so I followed the instructions set by asus and the converter worked (bearing in mind I had to use flashback rather than go into bios, as the thing won't yet boot) and when I try to install the latest version in CAP format, it just flashes for a couple of seconds and then stops.
I realise this question is targeting a specific few people out there who may have attempted to do this, but unfortunately I can't afford to drop £450 on a CPU to test if it did work or not, and even if I could it'd defeat the point of upgrading it.
If anyone's tried this, did they experience any issues? Do I need to install the CPU and try to boot it now or not?
