RAM suggestions?

Hello!
Loving my new system here...

3770K
Z77X-UD5H
Radeon 6870 (from old system)

One problem though, it only has 2GB of RAM :(
I use my old system as a server now so i've split the 4GB it had over the 2 machines so i can still tinker with them both.

Im looking for suggestions on what to get. Ideally I'm looking at 16GB of the fastest kind i can get. I think 16GB is overkill for my needs but thats fine with me. I have 4 RAM slots but if possible would like the full 16GB of RAM in 2 sticks, so i always have the option to add more.

Im open to any and all suggestions as I'm not clued up on RAM at all really, I've always just bought the cheapest thats compatible.

Cheers,
Chris.

Corsair vengeance low profile or mushkin blackline is good and not to expensive :) also heard good things about g skill but i've never had any experience with them.

Corsair Vengence, Mushkin, Kingston, G-Skill take your pick from them. Would lean towards the Vengence myself.

Wow you guys are on it haha.

The RAM i have now is G-Skill (Ripjaws).

I was looking at the Corsair Vengeance stuff if i'm honest. I've heard it mentioned a lot so i guess it's a safe bet... plus it looks nice XD (though it wont be seen in my case)

A budget doesn't really exist, however i think around the £60 mark for 16GB or RAM is about right?

Heres what Gigabyte say...

4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory
* Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2800(OC)/1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

So this RAM i'm looking at is the best i can get?..

Anyone know of anywhere selling these cheaper?

Cheers,
Chris.

EDIT!

Forgot to ask... Do i need to worry about height? Im running the stock Intel cooler at the moment, but i can see me upgrading to a water loop at some point. One like the h100 or something.

The profile shouldn't matter right?

Cheers,
Chris.

Got the 2x8GB set for £4 more and I'd go with that as it leaves slots free if you ever decided that you needed the 32GB (which is unlikely) http://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb...-(1600)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-10-10-10-27-xm

There is also the low profile set of them at £77 in the same place.

Now you see i asked for cheaper... not more :P
Thanks for the effort though.

Also a word of caution in regards to Scan Computers. I ordered a Raid card from them and i never received it. They told me a bunch of shit about how it had been signed for and stuff when even if it had, it wasn't me (the buyer) that had signed for it. Long story short i started a paypal depute over it.

I know, just happened to be on the page at the time having a nosy so just threw that in.

Amazon has been good so far for me so see no reason not to go elsewhere unless you have to.

Tbh there isnt a great deal in it between the big guys in the business (outlined above) its more down to supported voltages & speeds and the obvious aesthetics and practicality of the heat sinks.

For most builds, a nice set of 1600mhz sticks will do just fine as they sit nicely in the middle of price vs performance.

Mushkin Blackline, Corsair Vengeance, Kingston Lovo, Gskill Ripjaws - Go for whatever is cheapest of tickles your fancy the most (Ideally 1.35 or 1.5v stuff thought o allow for a little overclocking if you want to go down that avenue):)

Hello. Sorry to go digging this back up but i still haven't bought any RAM! :(

I just want to ask something before i go ahead and hit the buy button...

Why is the 1866MHz Vengeance so much more than the 1600MHz?

I've read about people buying a lower model graphics card and making it perform like a more expensive one by overclocking it. Is this something i can do with RAM?

Help me choose :P

Cheers,
Chris.

The kit that is more expensive obviously runs faster and has a lower latency, but even with that, the more expensive kit is not worth it. Just go for the 1600 Mhz kit.

i got some hyper x ram yesterday @ 1866 seeing as it was only a fiver more than 1600mhz and theres not alot of difference. Windows boots maybe a touch faster but it might just be me. Just get the 1600.
