I have just ordered my new processor and other kit so I'm having a mess overclocking my current (soon to be old) system. I have
an Intel 920
Asus P5WD2-E
Patriot 2x512mb 5-5-5-15 1000mhz
xfx 8800gts
Now the processor is a trooper i had it up to 4.2ghz from 2.8ghz at the top end of stock volts.
But the ram will not run at 1000mhz, and this annoys me. The strange thing is when I have picked 1000mhz in BIOS, and its an exact multiple, 300x14 for the processor, the post says pc8500 ? The patriot website gives this m'board as their example of how the ram hits 1000mhz.
Now at the end of the day its not a super fast system but I would like to clear this problem before I shelf the kit.
Any ideas?
