RAM Advice

I'm getting this motherboard and was thinking about this ram.

Any better suggestions for similar size and price range ?

Will be running a Q6600 @ 3.6 and with time (and re-mortgage of house) will be getting a GTX295. Cheers.

(just a bit of advice, when posting links, underline them and make them blue to make them easier to see:P)

But i was having a look and it might be better to get something like this:

G.Skill 6GB (3 X 2GB) DDR3 NQ PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel

becuase if you have a look on the EVGA compatability guide It says to use specific sets of RAM. Not that the Patriot stuff doesn't work, but i think it's always better to use stuff they reccommend.

Another thing is i think it is better to go with ram in multiples of 2 with the quad core, the ddr3 ram is more orientated around i7 which works better with triple channel ram, hence the 3gb and 6gb kits. Just some thoughts :)

The link he supplied is for DDR3.

dual channel just means the way it works (i'm not even going to pretend that i actually know HOW lol) it does not mean it's DDR2 though.

You just want Dual channel DDR3.

If you had the money i would go for ballistix Tracers, also the Corsair XMS3 stuff is a good one to look at

It's DDR3, check spec. Up to £120 ish for budget. Doesn't have to be 4GB tho, can add more later.

Mate you use dual channel for quads and dual cores.

You use triple channel for i7.

And that motherboard only supports DDR3 Dual Channel 'cos it runs on socket 775 processors.
