Raijintek Morpheus GPU Cooler Review

Some very nice temps there, but i must say that thing is massive.

How many slots does that thing occupy? 4.... 5?

That being said it does deliver a cooling experience which is only beaten by a water cooler.

I guess you could get some low profile fans to lower the overal size. Very impressive temperatures. It shows how much AMD messed up with the stock cooler.

Most people only runa single GPU and maybe at worst a soundcard so there isnt much need. It only rules out dual cards and slim fans wouldnt fix that....

It'd give it a less bulky profile though, no? It might look a bit better with thinner fans. Just my feeling on the matter :P. I just like the shape of the cooler and I think the fans kind of distract from the overall lines.

Nice, i've been looking forward to seeing more reviews of the Morpheus.
You can pick reference 290s up for pretty cheap now, even with the extra cost of the Morpheus it can still work out cheaper than a non ref card. If you already have a ref 290 then even better.

The good thing as well is you can fit some Corsair SP or other quieter/high performance fans on it and get even better/quieter performance.

I agree with you on that, now that the mining craze is dying out you can find a lot of cheap R9 series cards now. That being said the miners will have put them through a lot of punishment.

True, personally I wouldn't buy one unless I got the original receipt with it and it was still under warranty.

That's pretty much what i did before buying my R9 290 Tri-X, don't know if i could trust a reference cooled version under that kind of load for so long.

Its a good coller but i think now days who have the amount of money cards like this they will buy non reference card or buy a waterblock on them. I also prefer watercooling not only the reason of the outlook of it but the temperatures are much lower too. (approx. GPU is 52°C the VRM is 43 °C and the mems are also around 38°C under heavy load)
And the price tag is not so huge compared to this air cooler.:p

Given that I have a pair of hot and loud 7970's I was reading this with great interest right up to the part where we were told it took up 5 slots...

It sounds like, perhaps, you aren't the main target for this cooler? There should be nothing stopping you from tossing on some Slipstream Slims on there. But thinner fans do bring less static pressure, and worse performance. And most people don't go out and buy a massive aftermarket cooler just so that it can cool a little bit better, while looking way more industrial.

Thick fans were probably the best choice for most of the target audience. But it'd be really cool to see you put some thinner fans on there!

Thing is that you can get thin fans that do provide very decent static pressure.Admittedly not as good as a normal one but still quite a bit better than the stock cooler would be. I'm not getting one as I run an itx system. No space whatsoever for the 3 slot coolers let alone this beast :P.

Yea pretty bulky and ugly/industrial but that can be improved with the right fans to a certain extent. Absolutely loving the cooling on it though, faultless to be honest but I'd hope so for that amount of slots!

The "inner-enthusiast" in me is loving having more options to add aftermarket coolers to GPUs though

I could never fit this in my rig. I use a Corsair 250D, and do see ways to get a full loop in the chassis (with a lot of work). This beastly thing would stick out the side and would need a box add on to the side of the chassis.

It seems only practical for a large chassis and for people who only want one video card. To me thats the point of an mITX or mATX setup. One graphics card of the best I can afford. If I want a full size rig, its going to have SLI cards and this thing won't do it.
