Rads & case questions

OK. so I'm thinking about doing a water cooling setup on my system. watched the video that tom did on the G1 Assassin build and thought.... "why not?" need some real WC for this hot ass system.

So I currently have a i7 920 with a H50, I know it sux but I like to see all the goodies and a noctua is just too damn big, and I have a gtx 480 with a reference cooler. Everyone knows how hot those things are.

All this sitting in a NZXT Phantom Case.

so the questions are:

.... Is the pump in the XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 WaterCooling Kit enough for the CPU and GPU with another 240 rad?

.... Will another 240 Rad with the 360 be enough to keep everything cool?

.... Has anyone set up a WC Loop in a Phantom, and maybe some tips?

.... Would I need another 240 rad?

I like the XSPC kit, so hopefully it would be nice if it was enough by itself, but I think the 480 is just too hot. I'm just debating on doing this at the moment, but looks like fun to me, so hopefully I can get it to work out.

A 360 and a 240 RAd would be more than enough for an i7 and 480, with a decent OC as well.

tbh i couldnt comment on setting up WC in a phantom but i would say 360 in the top shoudl fit, maybe even just get an extra 120mm rad instead of a 240 and mount it at the back of the case.

well there is enough room in the top for the 360, might have to take the 200mm fans out, but it does have the space. could even mount it on the top under the shroud if needed, but who knows. heading to the computer shop now to see what they have.

OMG people need to stop telling other people to run multiple rads in 1 loop... It is freakin pointless. Just run one rad that can handle the whole loop. Simple.

And non of the xspc rs rads will do anything for you. You need the thicker RX rads.

ok, so what rad would you recommend? what is big enough to handle a hot ass 920 and 480? if you are just going to criticize people without actually putting up some useful information I can live without it. try to be a bit helpful here.

Res>Pump>240RAD>CPUBLOCK>360RAD>GPUBLOCK= Epic WC System.

Sorted

oh yeah, there is going to be some modding goin on. just having the same thing all the time is boring... gotta make it more interesting. thinking about mounting the 240 by the hard drive bays where there are the intake fans, then mounting the fans on the outside of the side panel. trying to figure out what i can make so it is not just 2 fans mounted to the outside of the case. going to have to build some kind of decent looking air-box for it.

I'm not just criticizing I'm telling you that your wasting your money putting two rads in. Get 1 thick 360 rad and be done with it.

I guarentee if you test with both rads like he suggested and then remove one of the rads and ran less tubbing that you would only gain 1-2* in temp rise with gaining more pressure in your system...

understandable. problem there is that the 360 rad comes in a kit for about the same price as just the thick 360 rad. I do want to do an easy setup and a single rad would be great, but cost is a factor. so if put another 240 rad in, it's not going to cause me much headache, and cost will be down.

WOW, ok so delay after delay has put this on hold, but finally got the 480 yesterday. did some testing, some benchmarks and the like. Performs like a champ and for $50 I'm not going to complain about it taking 6 weeks to get here, but holy hell does this thing get hot. Some of the parts for the cooling will start showing up tomorrow, XSPC Kit, and a few other little goodies for the modding. Hope to have all the parts here by Friday so I can do a big build this weekend with pictures and log to follow.
