Radeon RX Vega benchmarks leak online

Define fine. I had a 1070 and its definetly not enough for 1440p. Try wildlands on ultra. Yes a lot of games it will handle fine, but in the big titles you have to turn down the settings.

Yup. Go above medium settings on any modern game and it will fall on its face.

Ed. I had to reduce the settings on The Division quite drastically.

I know that dude, but the fact is it's still my most played game in years (since FONV) and at the end of the day by fair means or foul I still need to play it at a decent framerate.

I initially tried it at 4k with two Fury X. Nuh uh. Tried it with one, even worse. 14 FPS in the city.. I'm about to do another complete playthrough as a woman, hopefully this time without all of the freezing and pausing. It wasn't until I reached the last DLC that I got my Titan XM, and it did do OK.

But yeah, will be nice to get decent performance throughout. Hoping the guy pays me for the 5820k etc, then I will look into either a very compact loop, or, a EVGA Hybrid. Both cost around the same tbh.

Oh I'm right there with ya, it's the only game I play ATM. I'm playing at 4K and it's awful. Modded, it's even WORSE, which is a real shame, since mods improve the vanilla game sooooo much. God help you if you try to use lighting mods, since lighting seems to be FO4's Achilles heal, or one of them.

Yeah, when I get stutter and slowdowns playing a modded FO3 on a Fury X you know it ruins the speed lol.

I had Godrays on max when I played with the TXM. I had everything on max tbh, it was the only way I could accept the dog's dinner it was.

Yeah it's disappointing but pretty sure we all knew it was coming. Pretty safe to assume these days if you start hearing a lot of bad rumors about an upcoming AMD release, they're probably true.

But as has already been mentioned, it's all about where they price them but it would have been nice to have AMD on top again in the GPU market. How long has that been? 5870 maybe?

Since they took over ATI they have not made a class leading GPU. The 5870 was the last and if Nvidia had hurried up a bit and got the cooling right with the 480 they would have won that too.

1070 is not enough for 1440p any more. I know, because I had a heavily overclocked Titan XM and with stuff like Deus Ex, Quantum thinger and all that it was struggling at 1440p. Even the last DLC on Fallout 4 was going into the low 40s. Not the end of the world, but yeah I like to have more power on tap.

The 1080 may well fill this void. I don't know, I didn't replace with a 1080.

But yeah, 1070 performance now is 1080p only really. Which is fine, so long as it is cheap, but Vega screams expensive to me.

It's not really too little but it is far, far too late. Far too late, not even anywhere near when it was actually needed (the last year Nvidia have gouged and we desperately needed alternatives etc).

I seriously, seriously can't tell you guys how god damn close I was to pulling the trigger on a PS4 pro. Seriously it was in my cart and everything on Amazon, and I pulled out at the very last second and bought a new CPU and mobo. But yeah, it was *that* close.

In the case of Deus Ex and Quantum Break, those games run really well on AMD hardware compared to Nvidia. Which means that if Vega matches a 1080 in Fire Strike, it'll easily beat it in those two games even with Nvidia's snazzy drivers. A 980Ti can easily match or beat a Fury X in Fire Strike, but the Fury X will handily beat the 980Ti even overclocked in those two games, as well as Hitman, Resident Evil, and a few others.

Yeah I gotta say that apart from a couple of games I've been really impressed by my Fury X of late. Even with the 4gb (which did cause terrible FPS in some games) it's done pretty damn well. I still need to fix that rig (needs a new SSD as I used it in my other rig) but yeah, fantastic.

I want to play these new titles now though. I got scores to settle lol.

I really want to play Deus Ex, but I've waited patiently until Vega and Ryzen. And even then I still expect to reduce settings as even with Vega I doubt I'll be able to hit 90 FPS consistently with max settings. I don't mind turning a few down. I'd rather do that and stay at 90 FPS or more than for my shadows to look slightly sharper and be at 60 FPS.

Wildlands is a poorly optimised title to say the least, one of many Ubi titles that actually got worse with every update, we still managed it 55 - 60fps. Half the time it was network rubber banding that was a PITA but the frames were OK-ish

I've never had issue with The Division (rare for Ubi) it's always maintained 60+ frames with my 1070 FE @ 1440 and 75+ @1080.

Badly optimized. Its a GIGA world. The reason that Division is better, is that it takes place in a city = Just how i see it.

You can name all the poorly optimized games you want, however that doesn't mean the 1070 is bad at 1440p. It is more than enough. Those badly optimized games struggle at 1080p, so please find a good example. 90% of games that are AAA are not badly optimized. When the Witcher 3 and GTAV launched they were both optimized and demanding. They were the creme of the crop of graphical technology so to speak. W3 being absolutely one of the best looking games even to this day, and GTA with the massive cities and dense population. That is a good example. However even my 480 at 1440p at launch was able to maintain minimums of 40. So a 1070 would eat them for breakfeast.

Many people play Lol/WoW/BF1/Overwatch/CSGO and at 1440p with a 1070 you would easily be in framerate heaven. So to say a 1070 is crap and barebones for 1440p is kinda a joke and just makes you sound like a framerate whor*. If you are one, then a 1080 isn't going to improve that either so why even bother bringing that up?

A GTX 1060/RX 580 is a decent budget card for 1440p. A 1070 is a brilliant budget 1440p gaming option. A 1080 is the most balanced solution. A 1080Ti is a beast at 1440p and verging on overkill—though not quite there. 1080 SLI is overkill for 1440p. That doesn't mean a 1080Ti doesn't struggle hitting massive frame rates in a couple of games at max settings, but spending an additional €250 just so you can go from 2xMSAA to 8xMSAA in a fast-paced game is sad. If that's your dice, roll it, but I know I'll never be that guy, not unless I come into a few hundred thousands pounds.

If I ever have that money there are many things I'd rather spend it on than a new GPU:p

But seriously, a 1070 is more than adequate for 1440p. You don't need AA so turn it off. At least I don't see a difference so turn it off and you instantly gain so much for your minimum framerate. Makes the experience vastly better.

If you are PC enthusiast the money you save, or get a raise you spend on unnecessary PC components rather that buying something nice for your girlfriend, or going on vacation. Lord, how many time did i do that... :D But when she loves you she understands. :D

I think AMD's point is to offer everything for a bit less money than Intel/Nvidia. So when you go for a full new system, and buy Ryzen, RX Vega, and Freesync you will save a big bag of money, compared to buying Blue/Green system, and get same or similar performance. And also it will keep your OCD calm, because you are going full Red. :D

I was one of the guys waiting for Vega like Jesus Christ, but it took too long and I bought a 1080ti.

Even so I would say that if the price is around a 1070 @ 1080 performance then I would give it a good thought.

You dont NEED 1080ti, I would say its a very small % of all PC gamers. Sweetspot is around a 1070 for High Level Gaming. If Vega performing like a 1080 and yet lowering price then its a winner for many builds and would be something I would Recomend.

Now days, if I would build a allround system then I would go ryzen and vega for the price/performance. I say that having a x99 system + 1080 ti AMP EXTREME + fully decked out wc loop. PLUS 3 other systems, 2 being intel and nvidia and one being a i5 + fury x.
