R9 Nano Starts appearing at retailers

Kitguru have a video up showing the coil whine of the Nano on their YouTube page.

Seems it's another squealer XD

*EDIT*

Blunty on YouTube already has a short review up.

Many many people I've seen comment on the youtube reviews seem to be missing the whole point of this card, The dumb is strong with a lot of people lately.

That coil whine on Kitguru's card... terrible

Hexus' one had coil whine issues too. I'm hoping AMD won't let it happen to consumer cards.

IMO they're asking too much for it. £450 is a bit more reasonable. Its not a bad card in the slightest though. If prices go down by the time the X2 comes out (and if the X2 is awful) then I might be tempted..

Am I the only one that is disapointed with AMD and their price range for this card AND the FuryX??

I was hoping AMD was going to fight Nvidia through price war as their products are inferior and they are all ready behind in sales.

How much?! The cheapest Nano is £530 and you can get 980Ti for less than £500 now. Folk must really be in to small builds to want a Nano at that price.

I see the reviews are finally out now.

One hell of a piece of kit for what it delivers. Some pretty damn nice perf/W numbers - seems it beats the GTX 980 in overall performance at a lower power requirement.

Shame about the price though. :p

I think the price should be the same as the Fury. You lose about 1-5% performance but get the added benefits of massive power reduction and tiny form factor.

Also on coil whine. Some reviewers have cards with coil whine and others don't. This should suggest that supply shouldnt he as bad as the Fury X since many review sites are getting these early

Hardware Canuck's sample had terrible coil whine as well. It's making me a little nervous.

Pricing is definitely going to be a big factor. This would be sweet in an mATX build but it is priced right in the 980ti range. A lot of cases this would suit would also fit a ti (or 390x etc) so not sure how much market share this will get. I do like it though and the power efficiency looks really promising.
For reference (Australian Pricing as at right now - PCCG)

Furiosas
Fury Nano $1099
Fury X $1099
Fury Strix $999

390X Strix $669
390X Tri-X $649

Competition
980ti Strix $1199
980ti Lightning $1249
980ti Galax $1049

980Strix $769
980 Galax $699

I do love my Strix's but they're mainly here to compare like with like. The Galax was as close to reference 980ti and 980 I could find.

I haven't watched any reviews but if this is targeting the 980 tier users I can't help but feel this is about $150 overpriced.

Yep there is not difference in price here between the R9 Nano & R9 Fury X i thought the R9 Nano was going to be $100 cheaper than the Fury X.

If i had that kinda money i know which one i would be buying.

Forgive me for thinking that what AMD doesn't need right now is an expensive small form factor card that is outperformed by one of its own (and only slightly larger) products for the same price that runs cooler and will only appeal to a tiny section of the marketplace.

AMD, you currently have an 18% market share - WAKE UP!

I'm also massively dissapointed in the reviews so far that state the card is for "tiny form factor mITX builds" and then don't actually test the card in an mITX case such as the Coolermaster Elite 110 to see if any thermal throttling occurs as well as their usual test setup.

I've seen a couple that test it in a proper ITX case and it does fine. Its really not a big deal if the card keeps itself cool in a normal case as they will quite often have venting nearby to draw in air.

Once it falls to £400-£450 I will take the plunge :)

Nice little card, and everything I hoped it would be :)
