well, i am planning on eventually getting a 1090t once bulldozer comes out and the price drops, wanting to POSSIBLY, clock to 3.5ghz on stock volts.. if not a little less if i can get it stable.

have around £50 maximum have been looking at this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...57&subcat=1395 as it would be quiet AND not snag on my ram, (have 4x4gb modules)

needs to be as quiet as possible... wondering if this would do the trick.. (if not passive then i have 2x high pressure low noise 120mm fans i could stick onto it [Coolink SWiF2-12P](OR a different heatsink of there was space)

needs to fit inside a fractal XL, will be removing the top 180mm fan as its been said to be useless.

are there any other options?

Prices on those AMD are not high AT ALL. They are not going to drop 20 quid, its going to hover around the same price.

the £50 was for the cooler, and i know for a fact once bulldozer comes out, prices of seccond hand / new x6's will drop because its not the "new thing" im not saying it will drop by alot, but should abit.. and i dont need it right away, i might aswel wait and save some pennys.

didnt really tell me what kinda cooler it would need

I used a CM 212 Hyper Plus on my 1090 before getting a D-14 and truth be told it was just as good as the D-14 at lower oc's wasnt til I pushed to over 4GHz that the D14 pulled away

well, ive been looking at a H50, i know they dont do that great with temps, but i was thinking of it not blocking my ram over everything, it would be good to cool a 1090t at stock volts with some quieter fans?

edit: can pick up a seccond hand h50 for about 25 - £30

H50 coolers are crapola, granted it would cool the chip fine but it is loud and well just not that good, if i was you i would get a gelid tranquilo and i have heard the titan fenrir evo is pretty good

Hyper 212 looks right up your alley. Very admirable performance, even with some voltage applied, quiet, and CHEAP. They just dropped on the price on Newegg to like $27 shipped because CM just released the new 212 Evo which looks to have a better heatpipe configuration to help close out some of the air gaps in the base. You could get that one for about $35 I believe.
