quick disconnects flow restriction?

I dont think you should use them in a normal rig tbh. Id only ever use them on a bench rig tbh......

Just my personal opinion. A drain line is a better idea for most people.

Thanks Tom. whats your reasoning behind that, are they that restrictive?

im going to be having everything external so if i want to move my pc out, it will all have to come too. Im trying to think of a way to be able to disconnect just the pc and leave everything else where it is, but i dont want to sacrifice flow rate if i dont have to

I agree with Tom to a degree; much tidier internal. However sometimes you want / need to go external.

If that is the case, as it is with me, then the restrictiveness of the QDC's is offset by the usefulness and convenience of having them. The restrictiveness can be overcome by running the pump at a higher setting I would think.

my current setup (not for long!):
d5
phobya 1260 huge rad,
2 x koolance quick disconnects
cpu + 2 gpu blocks

no temp issues with the d5 on setting 1.

protip though: buy koolance ones. no substitute.

From what I have read echoes what NRG! says about the Koolance ones. Plus they have graphs showing the pressure drop of their various disconnects, the VL*N's being the newer less restrictive design.

unless you feel you are going to connect/disconnect a massive amount of
times on that device, they are marvelous. but in a static rig, not a place for them
in my opinion. a QC drain-line is a use, but CPU, GPU, rads, pumps.. major overkill
and a "mechaincal mess" for my taste.

i just want to have a way to dissconnect my intenal loop from the external rad, res, pump that will be attached to the underside of my desk. without a way. ill have to drop all the water in the rig just to get the pc out to work on.
whats a QC drain-line

That's the only I have for them too.

Putting them directly on to water blocks might sound like a good idea, but I just wouldn't.

A QC drain line is simply a quick disconnect tee'd off your loop that you leave unconnected and only use it when it comes time to drain your loop.

ok, so im still looking around for these. the Koolance ones do look nice, and may function the best interms of 'no spill' but that doesnt really bother me as my QD's will be outside of my case. The issue i have is that the Koolance ones will end up nearly £40 for 2 male, 2 female and postage. i need something a bit cheaper than that but not he crappy airline ones, lol

any ideas?
