Questions about Coolant

Hello everyone,

So I'm preparing to assemble my second water cooling build (the first was a blind everything from Koolance kits because I was an idiot), and I was thinking of using distilled water as a base for my coolant. What I don't know is, how good will distilled water, with some biocide and anti-corrosion mixed in, would fare against commercial mixes.

If distilled water is too much trouble, what mixtures should I use?

Best.

Distilled water is generally the best in terms of performance. I just use Distilled water + a kill coil, no biocide (kill coil does the job) or anti-corrosion (as I am not mixing metals). You can you bio or/and killcoil.

Well, the main problem is that I'm using Koolance blocks for both CPU and GPU, and both have a mix of wetted materials built-into them, meaning I will have to use anti-corrosion. They, also, have Nickle in them so I can't really use Silver.

For Biocide, I'm thinking of using Petra Tech's PT Nuke Cu biocide. As for anti-corrosion, I have very little idea what to use. I'm thinking of finding something that's used in car radiators and applying it to my system. Problem I'm finding mentioned is that they can contain some organic solvents that will damage plastic parts of the loop (acrylic reservoirs and possibly tubing) which sounds troublesome.

You can use nickle and silver, dont believe EKs BS..

You cant use a Cu biocide with dye,it causes gunking.
