Question for the modders, MB stand offs

I'm mounting a itx system to a wood the problem I have is what common size are the threads of motherboard stand offs?
is it m3?
I was going to buy M3 X 6mm steel screw inserts to hold the mobo stand offs

Most have 6-32 threads, I made my own M3 standoffs, but you might be able to buy them.

There are loads of M3 x M3 available on places like RS, 6-32 UNC x M3 is quite common for the application, maplins have some too i'm sure you'll find something suitable for the insert very easily.

I try to avoid using standoffs in custom stuff and just mate the motherboard directly, lots of options beside the obvious when you don't have to conform to ATX spec.

I was able to use a mate's lathe, but since that probably isn't an option you're better off buying them or come up with a more creative way of mounting the mainboard as JR said.
