PSU worries

I've recently upgraded my system and had a bit too much bad luck for my taste, so I'm beginning to wonder if my PSU is just sitting there and frying everything I put in, at random.. I had problems with the CPU being dead and then the RAM being dead, but then I changed the RAM and the RAM error persisted.. So now I'm getting a new mobo and was just starting to wonder; is it my PSU being an electronic executioner?

In short, my question is: Should I get a new PSU, just in case, and if yes, which one? I'm thinking corsair GS800 just because it's sort of cheap and I know Corsair makes quality..

My setup is:

NZXT Phantom with standard fan setup (1x200mm, 3x120mm)

ASUS Sabertooth 990FX

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T

Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 (wouldlike the possibility of upgrading that later on)

2x4GB Kingston HyperX OR same amount of Corsair Vengeance

1 optic drive ad 1 hdd

(I know I'm one of those who had faith in AMD...)
 
Ah..... Reminds me of my psu troubles, i rember when i was sprucing one of the PC's at school that i converted into a mini file server last year......., it was around 8am, just got into school after half term, and power up all the servers, pushed the on button on the converted PC, and sparks flew out the PSU, turns out we overloaded it....... scared me sh**less lol... never doing that again.. then had the hard job of explaining to 1500 students that i had accidently lost half of their work........ fun times........ But as Kara said, let us know wattage make and model, we all can make an educated decision....

It's a 750W from Energon..

I did some research and apparently it's a company called Inter-Tech producing it..

It's full name appears to be "Inter-Tech Energon EPS-750W"
 
Run as fast as you can and buy a new psu. Energon is cheap,so is the performance.Its most likely the cheap psu that cause troubles.Buy a Corsair,Seasonic or Enermax.

Corsair tx650 v2 is enough for your system,and will serve you for manny years.
 
Looking at the prices and takinge your advice into consideration, i think I'm gonna go out and get myself the Corsair TX650 v2

650W sounds good. Will you be getting a heavy duty video card in the future like a GTX 580+? I'd suggest going for something near the 750W+ range. That way you'll have some headroom for future upgrades and additions to your system as well.

Okaaayy.. Then the choice is between these:

Cooler Master GX RS-750-ACAA-E3

Corsair TX750 V2

Corsair GS800

Any of those clearly better than the others?

Just got my TX650 and installed it, but I still have the same problem with my RAM.. Do you think it could've fried my RAM sticks or maybe even fried something on the MB?
 
You'll need to go into BIOS and load the manufacture defaults, just to make sure everything is running at the basic level.

Have you tried booting with 1 stick of RAM see if you can still boot? Try alternating the memory slots for that single stick, and then try the 2nd stick by itself and see if that works.
 
unless you have an oscilloscope don't think you can test ripple... but if you have a dmm, you can check the accuracy of 3.3v,12v

see the values for it and calculate divergence.

Another problem might be with the pin grid array on the cpu... take a see if any are bent or broken.

Also take a look at your motherboard very closely.. do you see any bulging capcitors? any burnt surface mount device?
