PSU Jumping

If all you need it for is to run the Pump on its own without anything plugged in then all you need is this

Just connect your pump to a molex, plug that into your 24pin and flick the switch on the back of the PSU, it will then give power to your pump, just flick the switch off again to turn it off.

I got one from Maplins years ago to access a disk I had. You may notice in the images it comes with a power brick similar to a netbooks but instead of a normal laptop connector it has a Molex connector. I've used one of those on all my Pumps. Just really convenient and you can flick the switch on your outlet to turn it off/on. I prefer doing this than using the paperclip method but that's just me and thought I'd share.

That will work fine for it, but it would be a bunch cheaper to just use a paper clip, straighten it out then bend it into a U shape and put one end in the GREEN cable hole and the other into any BLACK cable hole and it will do the same job for free.

This is only a 20 pin cable not a 20+4 pin but any of the blacks will do

Some PSU's (like corsair AX) have all black wires, so its safer to just use one of them.

seems like such a faff to me when you can use a jumper straight on the PSU 24pin and power the pump on and off.

I don't know what's faff about it. You plug it in the pump and turn it on the same as you would with a PSU. I'm not suggesting someone go out and buy one of these for the sole purpose of using it on their pump I'm merely suggesting if you already own one that it can be used for a pump and it's very convenient.

Especially for those of us who use a pump with a bucket and some tubing for flushing rads properly.

I can confirm the paperclip method works just fine and is safe, Corsair even recommend it themselves.
