PSU fan facing down safe?

:wavey: Hey everyone this is my first post on OC3D.

I've been searching online but could not find a definitive answer. Is if safe to mount a psu (specifically a Corsair hx1000w) on the bottom of a case (specifically an Antec Nine Hundred Two or Twelve Thousand)?

I understand the fan is on the bottom of the Corsair hx1000w, so it would be wise to flip it upside down like this guy did:

but I'd prefer the label to be right side up if possible.

There would be only millimeters of space for the fan to vent, and I was wondering if it would be enough space. Links below are of my Nine Hundred Two, specifically the rubber pieces it would be placed on. Would this be enough space?? Thanks.

Try it and see if it gets warm dude. Im sure the sticker is the other way round on the back anyways, so if you fit it with the fan up the sticker is the right way.

I would try it and see. Feel how hot the air out of the back as well as its pressure. THen swap it round and compare. Also listen to see if the noise increases - if it does then I think that it needs a better air supply - cut a hole in the bottom of the case.

Why would you want to swap this around anyway?

to show off a sexy psu probably :p. if you wanted it fan down id cut a hole out the bottom for air flow, or just mount it fan side up and it will take some of the warmer case air out with it. unless your case temp is pretty high it wouldnt damage it.

make sure to put some tights over the fan ;D

I would have thought that would be the place where most of the dust would get into your system from.

Personally, it is not worth risking a nice PSU over. Just run it as normal. Not sure why anyone would care what spec your PSU is.
