Alright there,

i came across a prometeia a month or so ago and found out it came with an althon xp kit. i couldnt stump up the extra 65 quid for the amd 64 cpu as i spent all my money on my new pc.

my attempts at trying to sell it were in vain so i just decided to leave it in my room while i concentrated on my amd 64 rig which up until yesterday consisted of these parts

AMD 64 3000+ Venice @ 2700Mhz

MSI K8N Neo2

2 x 512 G.Skill ZX PC3200 @ 250 Mhz 1T 2.5 - 4- 4 - 8

Leadtek Winfast 6600GT

Zalman CNPS7700-Alcu

well thats the important stuff...

All the Screenshots below are off the Venice running on air at the highest clock speed i could get it stable and booting. its waiting for the watercooling till i break to break 3ghz... not to bothered if i dont...

well yesterday i sold my 6600gt and the zalman cooler, only to find a bfg 6800gt for 150 quid and an althon xp-m 2500 and a dfi nforce2 ultra b motherboard for only 50...

so i snapped them both up just so i could have two extreme pcs in my house, test them out again each other and see what wins, keep the winner and sell the loser...

So heres the spec of the machines there will be competing...

the * items will be used in both machines...

AMD 64 3000+ Venice

MSI K8N Neo2

* 2 x 512 G.Skill ZX PC3200

* BFG 6800GT AGP

Asetek Waterchill 120.2 with Asetek Waterchill Cpu block

VS

AMD XP-M 2500+ Barton core

DFI Ultra B Nforce2

Prometeia Mach 1

* 2 x 512 G.Skill ZX PC3200

* BFG 6800GT AGP

I plan on modding the top of a tsumani dream case to fit the radiator to the top of the case for the 64bit system and cutting a hole out of the bottom of another case to fit the prommy...

pics of the pc will come in the next couple of days as the bits arrive on my doorstep...

Both these pc's will be for sale when they are all completed, im not a trader or anything, just a kid with a bit of time on my hands over the summer and too much money...

plus i really wnated to see first hand the differences between the systems to appreciate a change in system more...

ps. this is my first post and i have lots of screenies in a post on another forum and i dont have them hosted on any websites... is it ok to link to the forum post... i want you guys to see the piccccccies :)

Looking good - can't wait to see the results - will be watching this one closely (just picked up a tasty XP-M 2600 and will be abusing it) :)

the only reason i picked up that dfi board and the xp-m was to sell the whole thing as a system on ebay or somewhere as i was getting offers of about 150 for the prom which made me want to cry...

i want to spend the money on a new car and the last few months ive gone crazy with computer bits

must have spent well over 2k, now im absolutely skint but ive got two beasts sitting in front of me...

hopefull the mobo and cpu shoudl come tomorrow so we can get teh prom hooked up...

im at a loss as what to do with my watercooling, i have a 120.2 rad that i want to fit at teh top of my case i was originall going to fit the two 120mm fans at the top with the rad attached below with the fans drawing air out of the case thru the radiator... and getting two 120mm grilles for the top

my other idea is to mount the radiator at the top with mesh covering a cut out, and fitting the 120mm fans below, pushing air through the radiatior which would be better for cooling of the radiator especially as ill have it running on 7 volts...

i wondering if the mesh will look cheesy or classy... i know the first way will look smart... also i have sunon fans on at the moment but if i changed them for fans with blue led's they would shine thru the radiator and look weel nice

so much to do so little time... need to get a new dvd drive as i sold my nec drive adn my copy of windows is all scratched up and wont read...

what do you guys reckon i could get for the prommied machine? i need around 600 to break even

amd xp-m 3500+

dfi lanparty ultra 2 b

2 x g skill zx 1GB

BFG 6800 GT

400w psu

80gb western digi sata

lg dvd burner

not had a chance to bench the system yet, came home this weekend to switch my pc on and get no post... turned out my bfg was fried which was a mystery since it was working before i left and my pc was off and unplugged.

then to top everyone off i find out the bios on my dfi board is corrupted, even with my bios switch with 2 backups i was unable to get it too boot

waiting for a new bios from dfi and an rma number from bfg

arghhhhhhhhh

WELL i was planning on selling the xp-m and dfi board and hooking my prommy up to the venice and havning all that watercooling setup for one 6800gt then going onto pci-e and getting two otherwise the wc would go to waste. but then this happened.

Teh dfi refused to boot after being unhooked from the prommy and being watercooled. i got a new biiso from dfi but the same problem persists, the chip and memory are fine so ive sold off the xp-m, prommy, rma'd dfi board and the g skill memory, infact i sold the venice too for 150 quid . my bfg also died on me and is going to be rma'd. i came home after a weekend at my parents switched my pc on and it was dead changed graphics card and it worked... my pc wasnt even plugged at the time... sutpid bfg... two things i bought from one person die in a week

grrr

anyway ive got a job paying me 300 quid a week so im amassing some more parts, next project is

Another Venice core... still undecided, will probably go for 3000 again more bang per buck

DFI SLI-DR Board mmm raid 5

BFG 6800 GT OC (hopefully i can swap for another bfg 6800gt pci-e for my dead agp card, and ill sli it , if i get an agp one ill just sell it or give it to my dad )

Twin 36gb raptors raid 5 with an 80gb western digi

160gb western digi

2 x 512 G skill PC4400 LD

Same watercooling setup as before unless i sell it with the case

if i do then its an antec p-190 for me with aircooling and a venice *drools*

Tagan 530w U22

should be fun
