OK guys I am in the process of building a new toy for our commander and cheif BIG PHIL some of you may have seen me chatting about sticking one of my water coolers into a mach1 case well guess you want proof as well

The unit

OK well first things first I need to see if it would actualy fit into my mach1 chassis here are some pics of the unit befor I braized the parts together

I just aranged them inside the chassis

Well it will fit but there will be no rear fan but that doesnt matter but I do need to braize it all up

Here is a picci after I piped it

I dont realy have too many pics of the build (sorry)

Up and running

normal_ch4%7E0.jpg

As you can see just a simple loop for testing

normal_ch5%7E0.jpg

The compressor will run down to 2 or 3 degrees C befor it kicks off then it will switch back on at 4 degrees C

I am still working on ideas with the case plus awaiting some parts I am going to load test it later too see if it will take 210W of heat

Oh yeah this is still only running R134a so there is room for improvement also the stat isnt set at its lowest

Very nice mate - would there be much improvement with a different gas? Also how loud is it - is this an opportunity to make a silent yet fast pc...

Anyway keep up the good work.

is that a one off for phil? or can we buy them?

also do you need insulate the w/b like on a pelt or not?

is there any chance of getting one of these built by you again if so how much, these are very nice mate and you have me interested as i could buy using one of these

Phil

Well at the moment it is only a one off for Phil as for the future who knows??

The improvement with different gas will be lower temps also better heat disapation, it will do sub zero but that was not what I was after.

I was trying to build a unit on the edge of dew point at idle so say 16 degrees C and maybe 20 max under full load, the reason for this is so you wont need to insulate everything however I have found with this unit down to 3 degrees the tube does not get condensation build up on it at all only the copper block does, So if you insulate the blocks you should have no problems at low temps.....

I forgot to mention the fan will be 12V so it can be controled by the pc's fan controler

Well it has been under a test load for the past couple of hours it seems to be able to hold a 210W heatload at around 18 degrees C , which means no condensation as such there are only a couple of things that I would like to see improved and one of them is the time it takes to hit maximum cooling on idle which is around 10 mins to get to 2 degrees, I guess it does have to cool over a litre of water so??

Cheers guys for the reply's

and thanks Phil I will keep an eye out for the bits :)

is there any chance of you sourcing one of these chillers again as you had a load at one point?

Also oif it did go retail how much yyou recon, also is there any where we can buy chillers like that?

phil

Well I may have more comming up soon but not 100% sure just yet I have already had enquiries about two of them so?? but I will keep you all informed

well if you do happen to source some please let me know via pm or something as i really wish i had bought one when u had em, BTW how much were u selling em for?

Phil

Defo some room in the open market for good chillers...esp as you can set up to individual needs will relatively small tweaks to each unit...

Awesome work btw, just need to build a chassis to integrate the pump, and make it pretty :D

Like many people I have a 'normal' size case - ANTEC P160 to be precise.

10mm watercooling is the only thing that can be piped easily around the case - is 10mm (not 1/2") something that can be considered?

Cheers

Mav

Well the outlets on the chillers are only 10mm loool but I have a way to adapt it to 1/2 " if needed, I was hoping to intergrate the pump but as you see from the layout there will not be enough room in the mach1 case, this was designed to be used to replace a prom not in conjuction with a prom so it will fit nice under a pc65 or 75 stick a lovely lian li kit on it and done :)

You can route 1/2" if you're careful - it is a nightmare though I have to agree. But 1/2" does own 10mm in most circumstances.

Does look good fatty :) Phil you always get the best bits :D

I had a PC60 (which is smaller than a P160) and routed 1/2" tubing through it no problem ;) Maybe you should get one of phils PC70s to fit it in ;)

Still no post for me so I did some polishing

And I also mounted a switch at the rear for easy off and on action :) Yeah Baby!!!
